NOT HERE TO BE MISERABLE We All Have Our Troubles but Should Laarn to Keep Them In Background. If there Is anything that Is Irritat ing It la tha way that some people talk of their troublee, as If they were a kind jf a treat—not cheerfully, but with a kind of gloomy joy; In a word, they are resigned It Is only nighty big humbugs tht)t will eay they are thankful for trouble*. We may even tually live to see that they were right at»d beet for us, but at the time It Is •beer hyproertsy to waggle our ficada aolemaly and say: “Happiness Is a snare, anyhow; It la foolish for any one to expect happiness In this gilz- sly old world." People who talk that way don't de- sorve happiness. We weren’t put here to b« miserable The Idea that life Is for suffering and not enjoyment Is faat being shelved. IfHbe lx)rd ap proved of lamentations and tears, be would not have put so much In the world to make us hopeful and happy. There Is nothing more common than trouble. We all have our troubles, but It la .he wise ones of earth that keep their hurdena In the background. It la sc common and cheap and selfish to he continually parading one’s g-defs and disappointment*, r Whatever our lot. we should all learn the wisdom of that helpful little prayer: ‘'Help me tc win, If win ! may; but tf 1 may not win, make me a good loser.”—Mary Eleanor O'Donnell In Chicago Trlb- una WISE IN WASHINGTON. a i ,i R,;u : i I Minb ll ’' li.
