Harden, where fully a hundred of the best peo ple in the world—county people—as sembled. - A delicious ovster supper, was served which was the flrst attraction, but the pleaauree of friends meeting friends gave even greater and sweeter enjoyment than tile dainties of the generous feast wf good things. Turning a part of his active atten tion to the better development of fa cilities for travel and transportation, he became sole ownet of the line from Barnwell to Blsckville, which develop ed In a few year* Into the Uarolluu Midland, extending from Allendale to Bateshurg. lie was also the pathfin der for the building of the South Bound Railroad from Columbia to SavAnnah, and through him the Southern Kail way esfabtfrbed it* main Hue to Florida anti the West Indies through Black? ville. Barnwell and Allendale, A few years ago he moved to Bruns wick, Ga. because of the betrer busi ness facilities of both rail and water communication and there built up the largest tie and timber business on the Adantic Coast. Buchanan who was sealed reading by a wiudow of the Pullman car. rose and said to Judge Lyon sitting, with him that he had been struck by a brick. The train wa* stop ped at Johnston, k physician called and examination showed that a 22 call bre bullet had entered Judge Buchan an’* back above the left kidney.
