Dkak Mr. Editor: At high noeto Wednesday, December 11th, Doctor Belton Rhett Boylston, one of Barnwell county’s most-substan tial sons, was united in holy wedlock to Miss Eulalia Mims, one of her most lovable daughters. Shortly before the hour appointed the relatives and friends began to gather at Hattleola, the resi dence of Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Mims, pa rents of thei bride. The parlor, halls ard dining room were most tastefully decorated with flowers and evergreens. As the last notes of Mendelsohn 7 * wed ding march died away the bride came into the parlor leaning trustingly on the arm of the groom and the ceremo ny, beautiful, solemn and impressive was performed by the Rev, W. D. Me- Millan. Soon afterwards all were in vited to the dining room, where the ta bles loaded with flowers and the good t;hlngs that t^npt and please the palate, the beauties of which defies descrip tion. Ackerman, Frank Jenny, Wyman Kearse, Frank Brant, P. H. Hiers, Jake Folk aud Frank Htanley, charged with the murder of the Kearses at Broxton's Bridge, on the night of December 2, surrendered themselves to bheriff Black this morning, and are now in jail. They have employed Col. Robert 41-• drlch, Messrs. Howell A Gruber, and Messrs. Griffin A Padgett to represent them. Allendale had a disastrous fir* on last Friday morning. It started about 3 o’clock in Mr. W. V. Gill’s two story building, occupied by R Bcharfsin aud VV. E. Harter, merchants. Opinions differs* to its origin. Some think it was caused by a rat and matches in Mr. Harter’s store, while others believe it caught from a restaurant. The fire burned slowly and the people worked heroically in saving tho effects of the occupants of the buildings. The losses are estimated as follows: Port Royal and Augusta Depot, 12,600, amount of Insurance unknown: R. Scharfsln, clothing and dress goods, $1,700 no in surance: W. K Harter, general mer- cbandls!, $2,060, no insurance: W. V. Gill, Stores and Hall, $1,500, Insured in Lloyd’s in F. H. Creech’s agency: T. -D. Johnson, building $800, 119 in surance: Capt. Leroy Wilson, hotel, $2,600, no Insurance, but furniture and ail contents saved; Dishsr A Pickrum building, value not stated. But the Allendale people are plucky ard will not sit down in the ashes. Better and safer buildings will take the places of those ijestroyed. All the suf ferers hare the sympathy of the public especially Capt. Wilson and family for the loss of their comfortable home.
