In training, sweetnesa and volume It was simply perfect, and in itself amply repaid all visitors for the fatigue of their rides to the beautiful church. The day was just perfect ; the sun shone ever so bright and the water w as rippled by the faintest flower-laden breeze. Danqlng was indulged in through the day to the enchanting strains of a violin in a com modious warehouse cleared for the pur pose. At 2 o’clock dinner was an nounced under the broad brapclies of the spreading magnolia. It was a sump tuous repast snd partaken of with good appetites sharpened by the river breeze. The luscious strawberries from Rich mond llilf made an enjoyable dessert. During the afternoon a walk to Boiling Spring was enjoyed ar.d a cool cup of water was partaken of. By the way— a word about this spring, which, thro' Its mineral qualities is fast becoming famous. It has recently been purchased bv Mr. W. V. Gill of Allendale, who leaving the grounds around beauti fully laid off amrlhe spring inclosed by an iron tank, w hich will raise the water several feet, above ths earth. He will also erect a neat four-room cottage In the ground*. _ The steamer Ethel was punctual and formed an object of interest. As soon as she landed she was boarded by sev eral couples of young ladle* and gen tlemen who took possession of her sa loon. If there has been no decrease in the cotton acreage, then the cultivated area ha* been greatly Increased. While it is true that the cultivated area haa been increased somewhat, nevertheless that increase does not account for ihe large acreage now devoted to food crops.
