' Exquisite arrangements of Pic- cardy gladioli were used in the drawing room and flame colored gladioli were used to decorate the entrance hell. ^ In the dining room a color scheme of bridal green and white was carried out effectively in the refreshments and decoratioqs. The bancuet table • which centered the room, was covered with a Chinese grass linen cloth and had as its centerpiece a handsome silver bowl filled with white gladioli, stock and gypsaphelia flanked by silver candelabra holding burning white tapers. Antique cut glass com potes held green and white mints and two crystal punch bowls, pre sided over by Miss Katherine Sheora and Miss Ann Zemp, com pleted the table decor. Small cakes embossed with brides rotes and lilies, elaborate •open faced sandwiches, cookies, salted nuts and lime ice punch wers served.. Assisting in the dining room were Mrs. Lott Rogers. Mrs. W. F. Nettles, Jr* Mra. Joseph E. Mc- Kain, Mrs. Charles DeLoach, Mrs. Dan B. Mackey and Rebecca Mays, young daughter of the hostess. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Cunningham helped enteruln in the living room. Miss Clara Johnston, Mrs. R. J- Wardlaw, Jr., Mrs. Steve Duda of Camden, and Miss Anna Margaret MacLauchlln of Chester, served de licious hot punch, block cake, nuts and mints in the dining room. The mints were served in a small silver basket, which was a prize won at a music recital In 1869 by Captain Cunningham’s maternal grandmother, the late Sallie Whit aker Thompson. The cloth used on the dining table was an antique linen damask, which belonged to the late Mrs. Robert B. Cunning ham (Mary Ellen Small), Captain Cunningham’s paternal grandmoth er. The flowera, Jonquils, snowdrops and yellow Jesamine, were gather ed from the Cunningham’s yard. The high-light of the evening was a prayer offered by Rev. J. S. Rob inson, who fitly closed it with: “The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you; The Lord lift up ili* countenance upon you and give you peace.” The out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Eskridge and sons. The heavy rains earlier in the week served to make the several courses at Springdale just prime for the racers. Hilton, age 76, of Bethune, died at 8:30 Wednesday night March I, at the Camden hospital following an extended illness. Fun eral arrangements were still in complete Thursday morning. Mr. Hilton is snrvlved by his widow, Mrs. Allie Baker Hilton. Also surviving are two daughters, •Mrs. Tommy Holley of Mount Pis- gah, and Mrs. Mabel Jeraude of Charleston, and one brother, W Z Hilton of Liberty Hill. Mr. Hilton was a resident of the Shamrock community near Be thune.
