JayCees Vote To Sponsor Traffic Safety Program At its meeting last Thursday night, the Camden Junior Cham ber of Commerce voted to spon sor a general traffic safety pro gram in the near future in con junction with the city police and state highway patrolmen. . The purpose of the program is to educate the public as to pedes trian and automobile driver’s rights in die business area. At certain places along Broad end DeKalb streets pedestrian walkways will be painted. At these places the pedestrian crossing the street will have the right of way. This is being done in order to cut down on jay walk ing and the consequent danger of being hit while crossing the street in the middle of the block. From these one girl was selected to represent each of the various make cars sold in the state. The Stogner Motor Company of Camden sent in toe picture of Miss Smith while the Redfeam Motor Company sent in the pic ture of Miss Team. Announcement came from the state association that Miss Smith had been chosen to participate in toe contest as Miss Plymouth and Miss Team to participate in it as Miss Ford. Miss Smith is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvin Smith, Sars- field avenue, and is employed at the Nolan Soda bar. Miss Team is toe daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben L. Kershaw County Oil Men To Meet Tuesday Evening The annual meeting of the Ker shaw County Petroleum Indus tries committee will be held Tues day, Sept. 13 at 8 p. m., at the court house, it was announced this week by U. LABOR DAY QUIET Labor Day passed very quietly in Camden without any mishaps of any nature being reported. Out side of filling stations and res taurants the city was shut up tight, all mercantile and profess ional places being closed all day.
