Mr. and Mrs. Dan Moseley lefi Saturday morning for Hot Springs, Arkansas, where he expects to re ceive treatment. They are travel ing by car and will be away about three weeks. Dr. W. The Charlotte station tower is located on a high mountain near Gastonia. Television broadcast waves from several stations „ probably percolate through the atmosphere above Camden but can} be pick ed up direct because ef being at too great an altitude. Unlike radio waves, television waves travel in a straight line. The further a re ceiving set is from the station the higher the antenna must be be cause of the circiture of the earth. . Some television waves crash into high obstacles, such as moun tains and are reflected. Invited To Visit Area Trade School Camden people are to attend t] cordially invited to attend the Open House to be held by. the Columbia branch ofthe South Carolina Area Trade School on Wednesday, July 20, from 7 to 9 p. m. The Open House will feature a television broadcast in the school gymnasium received from WBT m Charlotte, N. C. This will be an opportunity to see television in action. A television set has beeh assembled by the students in the Radio course at the school, under the direction of Instructor A. H. The 15 friends and schoolmates were taken to the Park in a truck filled with hay and fol lowing supper, which was served on long tables, the young guests danced to the recordings of a Vic- trola. Among those enjoying this de lightful party were: Elaine Ros- borough, Jackie Moore, Gary Smith, Jr., Charles McGuirt, Rich ard Tiller. Lee Clybum, Larry Smith, Walter Smith. List Polio Case In Kershaw County Announcement that The Chron icle will become a semi-wekely around the first of September was received with pleasure in Camden and Kershaw county last week. Many expressed their apprecia tion of the fact tha\ the paper was to be issued twice each week instead of weekly as at present. A great many have taken ad vantage of the offer to accept re newals at the present subscription ? rice of $2.50 a year until Sept. when the price will become $3.50 a year. A limit of two years has been placed on the length of time subscriptions can be taken for now. ■ ■ : Passenger Depot Being Tom Down m The Southern Railway has be gun demolition work on the old passenger depot on East DeKalb street City Council some time back gave its permission for this to be done.-A passenger shed will be erected to take care of pas sengers. The depot was built in 1909 and was in a rather sad state of re pair. Victims of polio were hospital ized in Charleston, Florence and Kershaw counties. So far this year 23 polio cases have been recorded in the state. The department reported a not able absence of malaria In the state. No new cases were reported during the week, compared to 162 case* found during the same week of last year. Only 77 cases of ma laria are on record so far this year. Measles, however, showed a far greater Incidence than a year ago. with 255 cases reported during the week to bring the yearly total to 8,617 cases. Other diseases were running about the same level as last year, the weekly report showed.
