The meeting was called by J. D. Watson, Sr., chairman of the board of trustees of the Bleny schools. This move is a sequence to the legislation enacted at the recent session of the General Assembly setting up the Kershaw County School District Reorganisation committee. A previous meeting was held at Pine Grove last week with the district 16 board. Virtually a un- anamous devision to continue ne gotiations with the various other districts was reached. With Pine Grove in dis trict 16, and Blaney in district 12, ttrii meeting is the second in a proposal schedule of six such meetings for the entire township. ‘The . Pine Grove district,” Mr. Watson said, "was completely In agreement with the decision to negotiate further with the other districts and was fully in accord on the location of the school.” The location, it was announced, has been decided upon and will be in district 29, which will be within a mile of Lugoff station. How ever, due to the non-procurement of the land in question as yet, the exact site remains undisclosed at this time.* * ‘The only opposition to such a move,” it was stated, “would arise from the apprehension that the grammar schools in district 29 would suffer.” However, Mr. Wat son stated very clearly that “this proposal for such a consolidated school would, in all respects, em body plans for the adequate facili ties of a grammar school and would be located on the same site for the Lugoff school district” The Blaney board members are all in afpeement on consolidation which, it was stated, “marks not only a civic advancement for Blaney itself, but a step forward for the entire comnjunity.” "Blaney’s school administra tion,” Mr. Watson said, “is willing to cooperate with all the districts in the township on consolidation and in spite of the fact that there niw exists a good school system within the town itself, it be hooves patron and official alike to go along, so to speak, with a township-iwde movement for an even better system.”, CITATION The State of South Carolina, County of Kershaw • By N.
