Al len Lawbright of Spartanburg, a member of the chapter and dele gate to the conference held in that city March 4-9. The many social affairs offered included entertain ment at the home of Judge and Mrs. T. S. Sease, the lattm* a grand niece of John C. Calhoun; a lunch eon at the charming Piedmont Driving. Club and a tea given,by hostess chapters, Kate Barry and Cowpens, at the home of ilrs. A. B. Taylor. The visit to the Battlefield of Cowpens was the chief historic event. State \Regent Mrs. Mun- nerlyn ot Bennettsvllle presided. The business sessions held at the (Heveland hotel will be reported at the next meeing by Mrs. George Nicholson, who was unabl^ to at tend the monthly meeting on ac count of illness. We are glad to report her return home from the hospital. The members attending from tbe Camden chapter were the regent, Mrs. Edmont vonTresekow, Mrs, Edgar Brown of Barnwell, Mrs Nicholson and Mrs. Lambright, now of Spartanburg. Honor guests were: Mrs. Roscoe C. O’Bryne, president general NSDAR; Mrs. Julius Y. Talmadge, honorary president general; Mrs. R. H. Rhodes, treasurer general; Miss Eula S. Gibson of New York hnd state regents from Alabama, Georgia and Florida. At the memorial service, a trib ute was given and a candle lighted in honor of Mrs. Lalla Hicks At kinson of Hagood, a deceased be loved member of the Hobkirk Hill chapter. ERNEST. NORWOOD PEACH Funeral services for Ikmeat Nor wood Peach, 25, whose death oc curred Friday night at the home of hia parents, near Camden, were held from the home on Sunday afternoon and interment followed in the Htekory Head Baptist choreh cemetery. Mr. PeaA is sunrived hy hia pi^ ents, Mr. and Mra. Bd R. Peach; two brothers, Eddie J. and Hasel Peach, all of Camden; four feistera. Mra. Bbop, JJi Imr Tfevaadale. Jeanatte Paa^ m Smith, Cawien. Mr. Peach died nicted wound. ^ •' and has been instrumental in see ing a library system develop in Ker shaw county that is now one of the best circulating libraries to be found in South Carolina. 10— An, active member of the Blaster Star and a former Grand Matron. 11— Member of Kershaw County Civic Council Legion-Auxiliary, TB Association, Red Cro'ss, Crippled Childrens’ Society and an active member of the Baptist church. Presently, serving as superintend ent of the adult department. Mrs. Smyrl has the happy faculty of being able to do a fine Job at anything she undertakes, is well qualified and efficient, with a charming simplicity that makes,it easy for others to work with her and to admire her natural poise and ability. Her family conaiats of two daughters, both of whom are Winthrop College graduate, and two sons who served in the Pacific area during the war. Jack is now mi out standing art student at Pittsburgh Art School, and Alfred recently re turned from Tokyo and will enter the University of South Carolina Id the fall. By no means the least member of the family, we find Mr. Smyrl proudly encouraging the members of his family and actively engaged in many budlneaa and civic enterprises of his own, all of which completes the picture of a typical American family.
