Before leaving he came to Camden and while here he registered for the draft. Ancrum was a graduate of the Camden High school and attended Clemson, Sonth (Carolina and West oPint before he entered the Marine corps. (Tol. Adcmm kept the Episcopal church there in operation after the outbreak of the war, acting as a lay reader.
