Kerrisdn, of this city. ?The old deSaussure home was beau tfuly decorated for the occasion. The lovely blooms of the jewel plant mingled its crimson with 'the ver 4ant leaves of the palms and ferns. There were five tables of bridge. Mrs. Douglas Boykin received the score prize, a box of stationery, and Mrs. L. a. Kirkland cut the conso lation ? a lovely handkerchief, 'the guest prize was a beautiful jewel kox. After cards delicious refresh ments were served by Mrs. W. The rooms were bright with fall flowers, and softer cards, the hostess served a dainty salad course on the prettily appointed ta bles. The substitutes were Mrs. Prince, of Cheraw, and Mrs. L. T. Mills. Mrs. Yatea *s Hostess. The Wednesday morning bridge club had an affable hostess in Mrs. C, H. Yates last week. The morn ing was bright and sunny and the members of the club were out in full force. After the usual games the hostess served a tempting salad course. ? Camden Library. The patrons of the Camden Libra ry are requested to bring in their books and change them by next Monday, as the Library will be clos ed for a few days next week, as the Librarian will be absent at the *U. D. C. State Convention which meets in Edgefield. No one need be in convenienced by this as each subscri ber will bo allowed two books. But if you do not take advantage of this offer, hold the books you have until the- latter part of the week ? do not leave them at the door. The Library will only be closed two or three days. Miss Shannon to be a Nurse. Miss Harriett Shannon, the ad mired daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Shannon, left, this week for the Baker Sanitarium, Charleston, wbere she will go into training as a nurse. Life and its surroundings were all rose-tinted for this young lady, and she might have spent it ns a gay butterfly flitting from flower to flower. But she preferred to dedi cate herself to the hallowed work of promoting the happiness and glad* dening; the psvths of others, and to help suffering humanity as she Journeys down the checkered aisles of time. The marriage will take place on the morning of December 10th, at the home of the bride's father in Klrkwood. Mrs. Tick nor I>ead. Mrs. Martha B. Ticknor, aged 73 years, wife of. Mr. Caleb .Ticknor and mother of Mr. Ben Ticknor, pro prietors of the Court Inn, one of the largest and oldest tourist hotels of Camden, died very suddenly OH Seaboard train No. 1, early Sunday morning as the train neared South ern Pines, N. C. Mrs. Ticknor left her summer home at Oreat Barrington, Mass., in apparent good health, and the cause of her death was' given as heart failure. The remains were brought on to Camden and prepared for burial. Af ter funeral services conducted Sun day afternoon by the Rev. F. H. Harding, her remains were placed aboard the northbound Seaboard anl sent to Great Barrington for inter ment. The body was accompanied by members of the family. Died at Hobkirk Inn. Mrs. L. El. Imlay, an elderly lady, a native of Niagara Falls, N. Y., died at the Hobkirk Inn in this city after a short -illness. Mrs. Imlay and an attendant Btopped over here Friday last enroute to Florida for the winter and her death was quite unexpected. The remains, accompa nied by M?s.
