Mark Duncan, a white man from Aiken county, must serve a sentence of seven years in the State peniten tiary for the murder of Will Brooks in A ikon county, the supreme court handing down a deeeisiou in which the judgment of the lower court is affirmed. A Prisoner 21 Year3. After nearly a quarter of a cen tury spent behind prison walls Hob Jones has left the penitentiary a free man. With the commutation of his sentence by Gov. Ansel he completed a term of 21 years imposed upon him in the I ,exington county court for the murder of Edward Pressley in Edge field county in 1880. The two sons of Edward Pressley wero killed at the same time, but Jones was never tried on this charge. The affair was caused by a land dispute. Superintendent Exonerated. W. H. Woodward, superintendent j of gang No. 2 of Aiken county chain gang, has been exonerated of the charge of causing the death of James MitchelV, a convict who died while serving a sentence on his gang.
