There is a lot to do within that short time and as it must be done it would be a great deal easier to get at it right now. The list of premiums will be issued the coming week. Be a booster and help the committee all you can?don't wait for it to come to you. This fair is a county proposition and county pride should be sufficient to induce you to do all you possibly can to make the fair a success. Don't be a shirker, a dodger, a commercial pirate. Take pride in coming out among those who rally at the first call and do your part. It will help things on so much. Remember, Chesterfield County is caling you, and expects you to do your part. A. Rouse. In creating this office Chesterfield has taken a step forward in her school affairs and is very fortunate in being able to secure the services of Miss Evans as she is peculiarly fitted for the position. V , r organizing a Teacher^ Association. Practically every county in the State has a teachers' association and it is hoped every teacher in Chesterfield county will be preseo; at this meeting. The accumulation of old papers and other trash in the street at the corner of the Cheraw hotel certainly does not add to the beauty of one of Cheraw's most traveled points. Some Potatoes. We were shown on last Thursday by Mr. L. A. Kerr three sweet potatoes of the Nancy Hall variety that ? - Thoco no were sure sume |?uiaiwo. * uvov i/w tatoes were raised on some of the socalled poor sand hill land a few miles above McBee. One of the potatoes was a long horn shaped one and measured 22 inches in length. The other two were 12 inches long and weighed 2 pounds each. Eight of these potatoes weighed 20 pounds, six 11 pounds, eight others 9 1-2 pounds, a total of 40 1-2 pounds. Mr. Kerr says it required very litle cultivation to raise these potatoes and indicates the fact that the lands in this sec. tion are adapted to the producion of almost any kind of crop, vegetables or fruit. Mr. Kerr willl probably have some of his potatoes on exhibition at the State and County Fairs.?McBee Courier. (Advertisement.)
