Columbia, October 12.?An increase of 37 percentage in acerage, netting an increase of 42 per cent in money over last year, is the record of the tobacco crop for South Carolina for the present season, according to fig ures made public today by Commissioner E. J. Watson. There were 33.299,561 pounds of tobacco raised in this Satte this season, which brougnt an average of 33.77 cents per pound, amounting to $4,584,339.51, these i'gures setting forth the reason why the Pee-Dee section of the State is ami", ing with fat bank accounts, good busiand ran tnrough September. RESIDENCE 72 1 PEE DEE PRESBYTERY. * Holds n Two Days Session With the Harts ville Church. Pee Dee Presbytery met In Hr.rtsville, September 30th, with fourteen ministers and sixteen elders present. The opening sermon was preached by Rev. D. M. Fulton, D. D., from the text as found in John 8:22. Rev. S. H. Hay, of Marion was elected Moderator, and Rev. M. B. McLauchlin, of Effingham, was chosen as temporary clerk. At his own request the pastoral re lation between Rev. A. s. uoait ana the churches of Kingstree, Bayboro and Waccamaw was reluctantly dissolved by Presbytery, and Mr. Doak was dismissed to the Presbytery of Knoxville. Mr. J. Sam Garner, a member of the Darlington church, was received under the care of the Presbytery as a candidate for the ministry. Mr. Garner has entered the Theological Seminery at Columbia. Presbytery consented to the changes proposed by the Synod's committee in regards to the bounds of the Presbyteries. Presbytery also consented to the overtures to the Assembly touching changes in the Book of Church Order and Rules of Discipline. The proposed removal of Chicora College to a site in or around Green- I ville was approved. Dr. Buckner was appointed to preach the Presbyterial sermon at the next meeting of Preabytery, the , subject to be "Religion in the Home."
