Davis and Mother Inez Simp son responded. A literary program was held and each president made her report. Peter Moon was the speaker at Flat Rock Baptist Church on Sunday morning for the Fellowship Day. The welcome address was given by Mrs. Bernice Young and Mrs. John H. Sherman re sponded. Music was rendered by the Temple Tones and the Flat Rock Baptist Church All-Male Chorus. After the sermon that was very forceful delivered to an overflowing audience the pas tor, Rev. J. W. Johnson made remarks. Miss Barbara McKinney and Miss Lois Gilliam were mis tress of ceremonies. Rev. and Mrs. Peter Moon Sr. and children were the din ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Young of Piedmont, S. C. following the above service. Technical Sergeant Alfred E. Johnson was awarded The Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service as non commissioned officer in charge of Plumbing Section and Quali ty Control and Evaluation In spection, 804 Civil Engineering Squadron, 804 Combat Support Group, Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota from Jan. 9 1969 to January 10, 1970. SGT. JOHNSON Sgt. Johnson is a native of Whitmire. He is married to former Doris Wyatt of Clinton. The Johnson are the parents of two children Althea and Al fred E. Jr. He is currently serving a tour of duty in Vietnam. Mr. Larry Bobo recently re ceived his discharge from the armed services and is home with his wife Mrs. Rosie L. Bo bo and other relatives. Seven teen months of his service was spent in Germany. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Har rison and children David, Di anne, Richard and Linda of Ja- macia, N. Y. spent the week end with her mother Mrs. Lula M. Wilson and other relatives. Miss Sylvia Summers of Hackensack, N. J. spent a few days recently with her paternal geandmother Mrs. ElnoraSum- mers and maternal grandpar ents Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Grant in Mountville. Mrs. Rosa L. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Isiah Hall and daughter Yvet of Washington, D. C. vi sited the Pyles family on South Bell Street recently. They came especially to see their sister and aunt Mrs. Anna Simpson who is a patient at Bailey Memorial Hospital. OBSERVES ANNIVERSARY The Ladies Alert Club of Mount Moriah Baptist Church celebrated its 23rdanniversajTr on Sunday evening. The club secretary, Mrs. Lu cinda McMorris served as mis tress of ceremony with the club president Mrs. Elnora Summers assisting. Following the praise service Mrs. Veola Watts welcomed the worshippers. The club creed and history was given preceed- ing the introduction of the speaker. The speaker, Rev. Pe ter Moon brought out many points on faithfulness. Rev. Alex Jones is pastor of the church. Miss Betty Ann Grant of Hackensack, N. J. spent the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Grant in Mount ville. Mrs. Bannah Adams and San dra left by plane on last Thurs day to spend some time with hei sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Olon Blount in Buf falo, N. Y. Mrs. Blount has re-entered the hospital after being released earlier. She is reported as being much im proved. Lenetta M. Williams observ ed her 1st birthday on May 21. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Williams. Mrs. Moriah Jackson of Charlotte, N. C. is spending some time with ber sister Mrs. Myrtle Suber and Mr. Lindsay Suber on North Bell SL Miss Roslyn Goode and Mr. Nathaniel Smith of Atlanta Uni versity spent the weekend with her mother Mrs. Lillie Greer. Mr. and Mrs. Willie Wilson Sr. and children Wendell, Ivan, Willie J. Theodore and Lois and Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Smith and son Daniel Jr. all of Wash ington, D. C. spent the Memorial weekend with Mrs. Wilson par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Blakely. Mr. Blakely is still a patient at Bailey Memorial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Luther Craine of Laurens accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Bobo to Charleston, on last Friday where they witnessed the grad nation of Mr. Bobo’s nephew, Mr. Nelson N. Bobo at the C. A. Brown High School. Mr. Cortis T. Rice graduated from Denmark Residential Technical Education Gaidar, Making the trip to Denmark to witness his graduation were his parents Mr. and Mrs. Tho mas H. Mrs. Josephine Wright re sponded to the welcome address that had been given by Mrs. I- rene Price. Mrs. Emma Pitts, mistress of ceremony introduced the speaker, Mrs. Aurelia D. Moon who spoke from the subject “A Life of Service." Mrs. Alfreda G. Bodenhamer sang a solo and the W. D. Co ker Carolers rendered other music during the program. COMING EVENTS Rev. Osborne has been promoted to Assistant Over seer, Spinning and Spooling, Clinton Mills Plant No. 1. Osborne, who lives on Route 1, Clinton, joined Clinton Mills in 1944. He had been a fixer since January 1, 1969. He is a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
