A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Mr. Kenmng- ton has a B.S. degree in phar macy. He is a Baptist, a Mason, a Shriner, a Legionaire and an Elk. Clinton Lions President Claude Crocker ann nnced that the local campaign will get underway n April 13 and continue through April 23. The Lions w ill conduct their door-to-door c dlecten cam paign on April 23-24 in connec tion with ttletr annual broom sile. Tlie mayor s proclaimation is as follows: "This month Clinton s leading employer, tlie textile industry, will conduct Operation FUTURE, the First United Textile Recruit ing Effort. "Operation FUTURE is a joint effort by the leading Laurens County textile employers to as sist our young people and both the unemployed and under employed of this city in obtain ing a challenging and rewarding career in textiles.” "Thousands of our citizens have found security and oppor tunity in this industry and have helped fulfill one of America’s most basic needs. ” “It is fitting that the indus try’s campaign to attract more employees be named Operation FUTURE, for, indeed, the future of Clinton, as well as Laurens County, depends greatly on its textile companies. “NOW, THEREFORE, I, NO- LANDSUDDETH, mayor of the City of Clinton, do call upon all citi zens of Clinton to observe the month of April as .Textile Fu- month of April as Textile FU TURES Month in recognition of the textile industry’s numerous past contributions and its proven ability to provide gainful and meaningful employment to any and all.” Outstanding Hero Sgt. Alvin York of the 82nd Division was considered the outstanding hero of World War I. On Oct. 8, 1918, York practically singlehandedly killed 28 Germans and cap tured 132 in the A r g o n n e Fewest.
