ADAMS All programs of the Laurens County Community Action, Inc. are well underway for 1969. The program year began in April with one new project and another ex panded. At the July meeting of the gov erning board, this year’s work was discussed and reports were heard from the directors of some of the projects. Robert Lytes, director of the new recreation program, CREATE, Jack Holmes, Director of SUMMER HEAD START, and John Smalls of the NEW CAREERS CENTER all gave reports on their work. An ani mated sessions of questions and A new board member, Harry C. Layton, Mayor, of Clinton made a timely talk about the under privileged child and stated that he was happy to be associated with a group that is doing so much in improving conditions in this field. * * * “The smoothest running families are those that believe in teen work.” Neely Bighorn Traffic Controller Airman Neely W. Bigham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell A. Big ham Sr. of 405 Gordon St, Clin ton, has graduated from a U.S. Air Force technical school at Keesler AFB, Miss. He was trained as an air traf fic controller and assigned to a unit of the Air Force Communi cations Service at Shaw AFB, S. C. The airman is a graduate of Clinton High School. His wife, Brenda, is the daugh ter of Mrs. Frances Hinson of 706 N. DuPre and Mr. C. M. Fuller Jr. of Columbia visit ed in town Friday. Mrs. FrankShealy of Lexington is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Winnebrimer. Mr. Mart Simmons of Clem- son University and Mr. Phil Motes of the Baptist College of Charleston spent the weekend at home. Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Crisp Jr. of Salisburg, N.C. and Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hambright of Grove, N. C. spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Adams and Miss Zelle Crisp. Mr. Burson Young spent the weekend with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Young. Mrs. Blanche C. Badger, Mrs. Carl B. Crisp, Becky, Cindy, Mandy, Zana spent the weekend in Saluda, N.C. BRAGG, N.C.-College of ficials from Presbyterian Col lege recently took a first-hand look at the ROTC training for 32 cadets training here. Dr. W. Fred Chapman, acade mic dean, Dr. Kenneth N. Car ter, professor of chemistry, and Major Windsor E. Ward, acting professor of military science, spent three days touring the ROTC summer camp facilities, observing training and talking to their cadets. is thepracticalphaseoftheROTC program conducted primarily at four-year colleges and universi ties.
