Playing Today For Last Time THE SHUTTERED ROOM On Christmas morning a tray favor is place on each patients tray. This custom was started 1? years ago by the Clinton Unit 56. They are made by Clinton Garden Club members. Since that time other units have followed this custom. Mrs. King, chairman of the Gift-shop Committee, stated that more gifts than needed had been given or paid for, by members of the Auxiliary. Other members wrapping gifts but not present for the picture were Mrs. S. C. Hays, Mrs. Carol D. Nance and Mrs. Ar nold Cannon. Smith Entertain Friends With Drop-In On Tuesday and Wednesday af ternoons, December 17 and 18 a Drop-In was held at the home of Mrs. Lykes Henderson in Pitts Meadow. Hostesses for each occasion were Mrs. Francis Bla lock, Mrs. C. W. Copeland, and Mrs. Lykes Henderson. Guests were invited to call be tween the hours of 4 to 6 p.m. each afternoon. Traditional Christmas decora tions were used throughout the house with colors of red and green used predominately in the hall and den and gold in the living room and dining room. Assorted party foods, egg nog and coffee were served buffet style from the dining room table. The table was covered with an off-white imported cut-work cloth and in the center an ar-*^ rangement of gold fruit and can dles was used. An out of town guest for the oc casion was Mrs. William Hender son of Newberry, who is an aunt of Mrs. Lykes Henderson. Assisting the hostesses in the courtesies of entertaining on Tuesday afternoon were Mrs. E. B. Pinson, Mrs. J. B. Hart, Mrs. C. E. King, Mrs. Heath Copeland, Mrs. Eugene Johnson, Mrs. Redd Turner, Mrs. George Blalock, Mrs. Dillard Milam. As sisting on Wednesday afternoon were Mrs. Ansel Godfrey, Mrs. Carlisle Neely, Mrs. J. B. Ar nold, Mrs. James Addison, Mrs. Jim Von Rollen, and Mrs. Ar thur Katzberg. 60TH ANNIVERSARY—Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Fennell of Rt L. Clinton, whose 6th anniversary was Dec. 17, were honored with a “family get-together” on Sunday. Their children attending were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Fennell and family of Greenwood; Helen and Harry Parr and family of Spartan burg; Mr. and Mrs. Wnn Fennell and Steve of Clin ton. Other children, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fennell of West Palm Beach. Fla., and Ruth and James Lee of North Pabn Beach, Fla., were unable to attend. Mrs. Grace Connor, program leader, gave a demonstration of the Resonator Bells, and accom panied the group in singing Christmas Carols. After a short business ses sion Christmasy party refresh ments were served. The groom, having attended Clemson University, owns and operates an automobile parts and repair shop in Gray Court He is the son of Mrs. Bobo of Gray Court and the late Mr. Bobo. Mrs. Workman Entertained On Sunday and Monday after noons, Mrs. Nene D. Work man entertained a number of friends and relatives with a seated tea. Miss Nancy Anne Jones of Clinton, pianist, provided music. The bride chose a wool crepe street-length dress with bell skirt and Empire waistline. The belt and bow at the waist were of velvet. The matron of honor wore a yellow street-length A-line dress with high neckline and long tapered sleeves. After a wedding trip to Nassau the couple will live in Gray Court Drop-In Honors Debs Saturday On Saturday, December 21. a drop-in was given in honor of Miss Nancy Hollis, Miss Nora Oeland, Miss Julia Sadler and Miss Edna Jacobs, debutantes to be presented in debut at the ball Friday, December 27. Hosts and hostesses for the occasion were Mrs. Peck Corn- well, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hor ton, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Stokes. It was given at the home of Mrs. Cornwell on E. Caro lina Avenue. Guests were invited to drop in between the hours of 8 to 9 and 9 to 10 p.m. The debutantes and their parents received guests who were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Horton and Mr. and Mrs. Stokes. Refreshments were served buffet style from the diningroom table which was over laid with an imported white cut-work cloth over green. Shades of pink and rose camellias and glads were used with candlelight in decora tion on the table. Coffee and punch were also served. Assisting in serving and enter taining were Mrs. J. F. Centering the table was an ar rangement of greenery in a gold container, flanked on either side with gold and green candles. Egg nog and coffee were served in the breakfast area of the kit chen. A traditional Christmas tree was used in decoration in the den and otter Christinas decorations were used throughout the house. A number of friends from Clin ton and Newberry called dur- Mike Archambault, student at Clemson University is spending the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marius Archam bault. Mr. and Mrs. Leaman Jones and family were in Mountville on Saturday afternoon to attend the Jones-Bobo wedding. Nancy Jones was a member of the wed ding party. Mr. and Mrs. Health Copeland were at Clemson University on Thursday to attend the graduation of their son, Carol, who received his degree in industrial manage ment. Mrs. F. M. Cleckley and daugh ter, Mary, of Walterboro spent the weekend with her mother and grandmother, Mrs. J. O. Grout and aunt, Mrs. E. L. Blakely. Also spending th^ holidays with Mrs. Grout and Mrs. Blakely will be their brother, W. L. Rear- den of Savannah, Ga., and their brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Rearden of Mont- morenci. Gordon and Mr. Gordon for sev- eial days. The Turners are spending the Christmas holidays in Macon, Ga., with Dr. Turner’s sister, Mrs. William Fleming. * * * Mrs. Nelson Dow Host U.D.C. The Stephen D. Lee Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy met Dec. 5.at the home of Mrs. Nelson P. Dow in Merrie Oaks for the annual Christmas season. President, Miss Louise Kern, welcomed guests and members, then the ritual and salute to the flags was given. During the short business ses sion it was decided to send gifts to shut-in members of the group. Mrs. D. A. Yarborough gave an interesting reading on “Se cession Day-Dec. 20, I860.” Mrs. Dow took charge of the program as program chairman at this point, and with the as sistance of Mr. Dow gave a very informative and interesting pro gram on the UDC building in Richmond, Va. including slides of the building. After the program, the hos tesses, Mrs. Dow, Mrs. Frank Miller, Mrs. F. M. Young, Sr. and Mrs. Rembert Truluck in vited the guests into the dining room. Party dainties, cookies, sandwiches and candies were served with traditional egg nog. The members' exchange Christmas gifts. * * * Luncheon Given Debs On Friday, December 20, Mrs. H. D. Payne entertained for Miss Nancy Hollis and the debutantes at her home on South Adair SL Guests arrived at 1:00 p.m. for lunch and were invited into the small den. Christmas decora tions were used. Hors deouvres arranged in the shape of a Christ mas tree were served from a white tray and cokes were en joyed. An angel motif was carried out in the dining room. Decorated egg shells centered with mma ture angels hung from the chan delier. Pink carnations in a sil ver epergne centered the table from which a hot lunch was serve buffet style. Star shaped salads and star and new moon shaped biscuits even carried out the theme in food served.
