They left Saturday by jet from Spartan- burg-Greenville Airport and plan to return Sept. 5. Mrs. E. F. Culbreath has re turned to her home in Char lotte, N. Giles left Sunday for a visit with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. C.B. Kugler, at Myrtle Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Wallace, Tommy and Ann Wallace of Lau rens, and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Simpson and daughter, Debbie of Clinton attended the Shannon Re union held at the home of Mrs. Mace Young, Sr. near Clinton on Aug. 4. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fielder and Rose have returned from a visit with their daughter and son- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Fer- don, Jr. at Pawleys Island. Sgt Robert G. Uldrich cel ebrated a birthday Aug. 15 in Okinawa. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gasque and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gasque spent last week vacationing at Pawleys Island. John K. Uldrich left July 30 for basic training at Ft Jack- son, S.C. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Red left last week for a visit with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Sumerel in Cincinnati, Ohio . Gentry of Union, was solemnized Sunday afternoon, August 11 at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Parks Mc- Kittrick officiated at the'3 p.m. ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father and attended by her sister, Miss Peg gy Franklin, as maid of honor. Miss Susan Harrison served as bridesmaid. The groom’s father served as best man. Usher groomsmen were Mitchel Scogin, cousin of the bride and Tommy Davis of Union. The bridal couple and their attendants were entertained at a rehearsal party on August 10 in the church parlor. Immediately following the wed ding Mr. and Mrs. Franklin en tertained at a reception in the social hall of the church. * * * B&PW Club Meeting The Clinton Business and pro fessional Women’s Club held the August meeting in the Gold Room of the Mary Musgrove Hotel. Centering the table was an ar rangement of colorful zinnias. Organist was Ford Ewaldasen of Savannah, Georgia and New berry College. Soloist was Miss Marcia Hamrick. The bride’s formal gown in Chantilly lace over taffeta was re-embroidered in seed pearls with portrait neckline and long tapered sleeves, with chapel train of silk organza. Her veil of illusion was held by a crown of seed pearls. She carried a white Bible topped with an or chid. Her attendants wore for mal dresses in maize lace and Peau. They carried cascades of yellow Pom Pom Chrysanthe mums. After a short wedding trip the couple will reside in Union. Mrs. Gentry is employed by J. P. Stevens and Co., Inc., Whitmire Plant, while Mr. Gen- tty is employed at Monarch Mills in Union. On Monday night August 5, Miss Hazel Strickland was host ess at a miscellaneous shower for the bride-elect. She was pre sented a corsage of white carna tions upon arrival. After a num ber of games, delicious refresh ments were served. She received many lovely and useful gifts. Following the supper, Miss Joyce Dunaway presided in the absence of the president, Mrs. M. C. Poole, who was vacation ing in Curacao, Dutch Antilles. Mrs. W. W. Harris gave an interesting account of the Na tional Convention, which she at tended in Minneapolis. During the business session the yearbooks were distributed and the committee chairmen made reports. Mrs. Perry Moore reported from the Park Commit tee that the drive at Pine Ha ven Park was to be widened in to a two-way road and that gra vel would be spread on the drive. * * * Chapmans Entertain Legion Aux. Mr. and Mrs. R. Pope Chap man will entertain members of the American Legion Auxiliary and husbands at their annual chicken and fish supper Saturday evening, August 31, at their home on Lake Greenwood.
