He was born in Philadelphia, son of Andrew and Elizabeth Broughtigam Walker. He grad uated from Amherst in 1928 and was a member of Phi Phi Fra ternity. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Clinton. He was a consultant of Wil liam E. WrightandSons Company of W. Warren, Mass. He is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth Childs; daughter Sarah C. Walker of the home; two sons, Kent Walker of Clinton and Robert J. Walker of Midfield, Mass; and three grand children. Walker Funeral Home of Mon- son, Mass is in charge of arrangements. Donald Jennings Funeral services were held Thursday, July 11, for Donald Jennings Jr., 2-year-old son of Doland L. and Rachael Black- well Jennings Sr. of 103 Bailey Circle. The child died Wednesday, July 10, in a local hospital. Services were conducted at Pentecostal Holiness Church Lydia Mill, with burial in Pine- lawn Memory Gardens. Other survivors include a sis ter, Candace Jennings of the home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Blackwell of Clinton and Mrs. T. R. Jennings of Jo anna; great-grandfather, Grover Wilson of Clinton. Mrs. Anderson REIDVILLE - Mrs. Mary Phil- son Anderson, 90, mother of Miss Katherine Anderson of Clinton, died Thursday, July U.ataSimp- sonville nursing home. A native of Laurens County, she was the widow of Benjamin Mason Anderson. Funeral services were conducted Sat urday at Nazareth Presbyterian Church with burial in the church cemetery. Other survivors include two other daughters, a sister, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. J. A. Smitherman SYMRNA, GA. - Johnny A. Smitherman, 32, former of Clin- ton, died near Howell Mill Bridges Road Sunday night of injuries received while working as a brake man with the Sea board Coast Line. The son of M. D. Smitherman Sr. of Clinton and the late Mrs. Olive Mae Coley Smitherman, he was a member of the Assembly <rf God Church in Clinton. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Other survivors include his wife, Mrs. Doris SamplesSmith- erman; a son, Johnny A1 Smith erman Jr. of the home; three Sisters, Mrs. Daisy Cothran of Clinton, Mrs. Vera Harris of Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. Inez Burk ett of Birmingham, Ala.; three brothers, M. D. Smitherman Jr. of Clinton, R. 0. Smitherman of Detroit, Mich., and R. w. Smith erman of Smyrna; and a half- brother, Cecil Pugh of Birming- fcun. He was educated in Lau rens schools and owned Eastside Florist Shop. He was a member of trustees, Central Methodist Church and Palmetto Lodge 19, AFM. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Rhodes Bishop; a daugh ter, Sherry Bishop of the home; a half-sister, Mrs. Coralene Brown of Buffalo, N. Y.; and a stepbrother, S. K. Shealy of Lau rens. Funeral services were con ducted Sunday at Gray Funeral Home. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Davis Mrs. Sarah F. Davis, 81, of Rt. 1, Kinard, (Bush River Road) and the widow of J. Asa Davis Sr., died early Saturday at a local hospital after several years of declining health. She was a native of Fairfield County and had made her home in Laurens County for the past 40 years. She was a daughter of the late Richard W. and Laura Vir ginia Culp Featherston. She at tended Winthrop College and was a retired school teacher, having taught in Laurens and Newberry counties. She was a member of the Clin ton First Baptist Church and the WMS. She was also a member of the L’DC, the Steplens D. Lee Chapter. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Hugh (Virginia) Workman of Clinton, Mrs. Gus (Florence) Ramage Jr. of Clinton, Miss Katherine Davis of Augusta, Ga. and Mrs. Doyal K. (Helen) Burton of Denver, Col.; ooe sister, Mrs. Percival Brooke of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Joseph A. Teatherston of Memphis, Tenn. and Francis C. Featherston of Detroit, Mich.; four grandchild ren; and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were con ducted Sunday at the First Baptist Church, Clinton, by Rev. J. H. Darr and Rev. T. G. David Hodges, of Winston- Salem has returned home after visiting Mrs. N. A. Shouse. Mrs. N. A. Shouse and Max ine Spivey spent the weekend in Winston-Salem with Mrs. Mary Young and Mrs. Rachel Hodges. Kay Shouse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Shouse has re turned home after a week at Camp Fellowship. Rickey Shouse son of Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Shouse is spending this week at Camp Fellowship. On Friday Mrs. Texie John son, Mrs. Earle Johnson, Mrs. Bernice Shouse, David Hodges and Maxine Spivey were dinner guest of Mrs. James Johnson. Fairview Missionary Society met last Thursday evening with Mrs. James Johnson. The pro gram for month of June and July was presented by Mrs. Wayne Dietz, Mrs. Lester Cooper and Mrs. James Johnson. Following the program refreshments were served by Mrs. Johnson. Mrs. James Evans, Lewis Evans and daughters were re cent visitors to Atlanta where they went to Six Flags Over Georgia. Mrs. Hubert Spivey, Randal and Wander Spivey visited Mrs. Spi vey’s parents Mr. and Mrs. Blackstone onSunday. Mr. Black- stone had just returned home from Veterans Hospital in Col umbia.
