Stokes, who has been a patient at Bailey Memorial Hospital for some months, is recuperating nice ly at her home here. She was accompanied home by her nurse, Mrs. Davis of Laurens, who will be with her for an in definite period of time. Arthur B. Crisp of Elber- ton, Ga. and Fla., visited Mr. and Mrs. Roy Adams during last week. During the weekend Mrs. James Clary, Greenville, vis ited her aunt, Mrs. Polly Ban nister. Last week M. C. Crisp of Raleigh, N. C. visited his mo ther, Mrs. W. L. Crisp, who has been confined to her room for over one year. Miss > Elizabeth Jones and Miss Zelle Crisp attended the teachers meeting in Columbia last week. Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Bryson spent Sunday in Greenville with their son Hugh W. Bryson and family, going especially for the Baptismal service at th? Presbyterian Church, in which their granddaughter, Taurie Bryson was a candi date. Cottage Prayer Meets at ‘ The Joanna Baptist Church will be sponsoring Cottage prayer meetings on Thursday, March 23. This is preparation lor the revival which will start Sunday, March 26. There will be a family fellowship with each family bringing a cov ered wish starting at 5:30 and th erpvival will begin at 7:30. Mr. Maxi Rice, lay Evangelist will be guest preacher. Gettys, aca- domic dean of Presbyterian College, was speaker on Wed nesday, March 15, at Honors Day exercises at Lander Col lege, Greenwood. The occa sion honored eight students who wore inducted into the Colden “L” Society, honorary scholarship organization. Dr. Gettys urged the Lan der student body to make theri lives a pursuit of excel- 'cnce. Bill Dobbins, Jr. Gets Double Eagle William C. Dobbins, Jr., had a great afternoon of golf Mon day at the Lakeside Country Club. He shot a double eagle on the seventh hole. He se- 'ected a driver and three wood for the five-par hole and made it with two strokes. Dobbins was playing a four some with Earl Horton of Clin ton and Ken McSwain .and Jim Brownlee of Laurens.
