They were the guests of Dr. Charles Rice, dean of students at the Bap tist College of Charleston, at the Price’s Beach house near Charleston. Former Resident Visits Here Major and Mrs. Joe Mau- phin and children, Scott and Beth, former residents of the city ( were visitors here dur ing the weekend. Major Mau- phin returned from duty in Viet Nam and will leave with his family for his new as signment to Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Miss Kay Young of Bren- au College, Gainesville, Ga., accompanied by her suite- mate, Miss Linda Mathis of Georgetown, and Jerry Robb of Huntingdon College, Mont gomery, Ala., spent last weekend with Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Young. Mr. and Mrs. Miles Powell accompanied by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Powell of Mullins, attended the Clem- son - Duke game in Clgmson on Saturday. ' Mrs. D. W. A. Crider and family joined by mer’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Crider Sr. of Charleston, spent the weekend in the mountains of North Carolina. In Duke Hospital Mrs. Milford Smith is a pa tient at Duke University Hos pital where she underwent surgery on Wednesday morn ing. The surgery, which was schduled for last week was postponed to this week. Mr. Smith joined her there on Tuesday. Mr. nad Mrs. Marvin Tur ner and Mrs. Gus Blakely spent the weekend in the mountains of North Carolina. Mr. and Mrs. William Blackwell attended Home coming Festivities at Clem- son University last weekend. Their son, Robert, is a stu dent there. Mr. and Mrs. Dill Ellis and daughter, Ann spent the week end with Mr. Ellis’ mother Mrs. George Ellis,? Mrs. W. C. Shealy had as her guest for several days recently, Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Gibson of New Zioh, S. C. Several days last week Mrs. W. C. Shealy visited Mrs. Oswald Copeland in Newberry. Touring the mountains on Sunday were Mrs. Tootsie Hollis and Lewis Bowen. Miss Zelle Crisp of Mount- ville is visiting her brother, A. B. Crisp in Elberton, Ga. Miss Crisp retired recently after teaching for over forty- six years in the public schools of North and South Carolina. Former Pastor 111 The Rev. A. S. Harvey, for mer pastor of Broad Street Methodist Church, is a patient at Greenville General Hospi tal where he underwent sur- jgery last week. Col (Ret.) and Mrs. A. J. Thackston will attend the Presbyterian - Gilford College Football game in Greensboro, N. C. this coming Saturday. While away they will visit their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Clark and two children in Alta Vis ta, Virginia. While in Iowa they visit ed Iowa State College at Ames, also Iowa wildlife con servation in the lodges, the great Red Rock Dam, one of the largest in the midwest.
