Men of the church are urged to secure tickets for themselves and their wives. Other ladies of the church are invited as guests of the Brotherhood, and are asked to call Bruce Galloway, president, if trans portation is desired. The Rev. Thomas Dunn, pastor of the Bush River Bap tist Church, will be the speak er on this occasion. Mrs, Maye Given Bridal Shower On Monday evening, Octo ber 10, at the Parent’s Club House, Whitten Village, Mrs. Junior Maye was complimen ted with a bridal shower. Hostesses for the occasion were Mrs. Epps Davis, Mrs. W. J. Lee, Mrs. Roy Rickard, Mrs. J. W. Abrams, Mrs. S. H. Satterwhite and Mrs. Earl Gilliam. Mrs. May,- the former Miss Carolyn Hairston, is employ ed at Whitten Village, Her wedding to Mr. May was solemnized, Saturday, Octo ber 15. Following several appropri ate games, refreshments were served. Mrs. May was re membered with many usefut gifts. Education And Scholarship Topic Of Legion Meet The American Legion Aux iliary met at the home of Mrs. Marion Lawson, October 18, with fifteen members present. The president, Mrs. Essie Workman presided. The chaplain, Miss Essie Davidson, opened the meeting with prayer followed with the ritual and singing of the hymn of the month, “Day Is Dying In The West”. Mrs. Thomas Baldwin, Girl’s State Chairman, intro duced the girls that repre sented the auxiliary at Girl’s State, Misses Edna Jacobs and Jane Boland, students at Clinton High School, and Charlotte Neil- of Thornwell High School. Each of the girls gave interesting reports of their meeting in Columbia. Later they joined Mrs. Workman in a panel dis cussion “Are Schools Chang ing Too Fast”. An article in the “South Carblinal Educa tional News” was used as a basic while members and pa nel added their experiences with the changing program making the discussion more interesting.
