EASON Assistant County Agent The Extension Service spon sored 4-H Club offers many things to many young people but a chffllenge to all. For a young man to take on fifteen, acres of cotton sin glehanded from plowing to poisoning, with a few hoe- hands hired to assist when weeds were a big problem, is indeed a challenge. For a young man to tackle that job and find time to combine grain for his neighbors and help with a small herd of mal chores around the house cattle at home and the nor- is enough to keep most young men busy. The young man I have ref erence. to Is William Woods, 17 year old son of Mr. and pond. William became q 4-H Mrs. Milton Woods of Green- member seven years ago when he was ten and since that time has a record of which he is proud. William has received awards for his work hi field crops, gardening, electric, poultry barbecue, leadership, tractor, and automotive pro jects. He attended State 4-H Club Week as county winner in 1964 and won a blue ribbon. Also in 1964 he attended Elec tric Congress as the county winner in the electric pro gram. He hak several blue ribbons he received for his field crop exhibits at the area fairs. ] This year William is at tending State 4-H Club Week again and as usual will be pretty busy. He has been cho sen to lead the devotional program on Thursday even ing, a big honor for 4-H’e^s! William is subn%itting his record book in field crops this year as his major project. He won out over some ten other boys in the county tractor driver’s contest find will rep resent Laurens County in the 4-H tractor driver’s contest at Clemson this week. He has assisted his leaders and Ex tension Agents, in preparing fair booths and window dis plays involving 4-H. William’s sister Elizabeth won atrip to Chicago to the National 4-H Club Congress as a state winner, and William Is out to win it before he Is through. I believe he wilt make it.
