The photo shows deacons of the church burn ing the mortgages and some of the guests and others who attended the service. Invited guests included the mayor and councilmen of the city and their wives; Robert M. Vance, president of Clinton Mills and M. S. Bailey & Son, Bankers; Furman E. Thomason, County Supervisor, and Dr. and Mrs. S. H. Jones. Dr. Jones is retiring as editor of the Baptist Courier and was guest preacher for the service. Calvary Baptist Church was organized in 1904 with 25 members, and worshipped in a building owned by Clinton Cotton Mills. Today, the membership of the church is 800, and the church property is valued at $225,000.—Photo by Truman Owens. 48/ X-Rays, Tests Are Made at Clinics A total of 487 chest X-rays were made in the Greenwood and Laurens County Health De partment Clinics during Janu ary. Of these, 227 were 70 mill- meter screening films and 37 were 14 x 17 films made in Greenwood. Laurens reported 123 were 14 x 17 films. Chest Xrays are used by physicians in the diagnosis of tuberculosis, certain forms of heart disease and lung cancer, and to dis cover other chest pathology. Tuber culin tests are available without charge daily in Greenwood and on Monday, Friday, and Satur day morning in Laurens. These employees were given credit for continu ous service with Joanna Millst prior to the purchase by Green wood in July, 1965. Allen T. Powers of Clinton, had the longest record of ser vice for the month with 25 years, Those receiving pins were: Twenty-five years — A. T. Powers. Twenty years—Louise Salters, J. S. Prater, W. L. Gresham, and J. F. Etters. Fifteen years — Geraldine Morris, William Bledsoe, L. W. Evans, Roy Edens, J. G. Huff- stetler, Leo Bishop, E. G. Dur ham, and Annie Mae Senn. Ten years—James H. Smith, Francis Broome, and F. E. Morris. Five years—C. L. Davenport.
