Poole of Winston-Salem, N. C., spent Tuesday night with his aunt, Mrs. W. R. Brown, and visited other relatives. He is superin tendent of the Baptist Home for Aged in North Carolina. Mrs. N. W. McDaniel left yesterday for Fayetteville, N. C., for an extended visit with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. O. T. McDaniel. ATTENDED FQRESTERS MEETING Attending the Society of Ameri ican Foresters Meeting in Atlan ta, Ga. Monday thru Wednesday were Paul Muller, D. G. Creigh ton, and M. B. Seymour. Mr. and Mrs. James Edmund Ferguson of Macon, spent the night with Dr. and Mrs. D. O. Rhame, coming especially for the funeral of Mrs. John Fergu son. ' “ ’' Among college students home for the week-end were Billy Bal lard, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Balard, and William Bell, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Bell, stu dents at Clemson University, Clemson. Mac Hiers has resumed his studies at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, after spending several days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Hters, during semester break. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Poole have returned to their home in Miami, Fla., after spending a ten-day leave with her mother, Mrs. Opal Crouch, and grand mother, Mrs. Guy Copeland. They will return this week-end for a short, visit prior to going to Massachusetts where they will fly to England where he will be stationed with the U. S. Air Force. Among' Winthrop college stu dents home for the week-end were Misses Judy Davis, Sally Walker and Rose. Ann Mc Crary. Larry Warren, freshman at Duke University^ Durham, N. C,. spent several days last week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Warren, during the college semester break. They are the daughters of Mrs. Hugh" Eichelberger and Dr. and Mrs. D. H. McFadden. Visiting last 1 week with Mrs. W. C. Shealy were her sisters, Mrs. Oswald Copeland of New berry, and Mrs. B. W. Gibson of New Zion; also, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Lavender and Mrs. Sue Felder of New Zion. They came especially to attend the funeral servces of Mac B. Hipp on Saturday. Mrs. Copeland and Mr. and Mrs. Gibson re mained for a longer visit. COMPLETES SERVICE Miiton Moore, son of.Mr. and Mrs. Perry Moore, has com pleted his military service and resumed his studies at Wofford College, Spartanburg, where he is a member of the senior class. Jimmy Sulivan, son of Dr. and Msr. E. N. Sullivan, was at home several days last week from the University of -the South, Sewanee, Tenn., during the semester break. Miss Ethel Hunter has return ed from a week’s visit with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hunter, in Green ville. Mr. and Mrs. George Lane and son, Todd, of Decatur, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. Tom ElUott and daughter, Elaine, of Austin, Texas, have been spending sev eral days with Mrs. Lane’s and Mrs. Elliott’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Staton. Mr. and Mrs. ElUott and daughter left Tues day for St. Petersburg, Fla., where he has accepted a posi tion with an accounting firm. Dr. and Mrs. Joe Godfrey and children, Beth and Brannon, of Forest City, N. C., were recent guests of her mother, Mrs. Mrs. M. C. Poole. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Dow were in Atlanta, Ga., recently to attend the Southeastern Pho to Engraving convention held At the new Marolott Motel. Mrs: J. D. McKee, HI, left last Wednesday for Fort Sill, Okla., where she joined Pvt. McKee who is stationed there. She was accompanied to Colum bia airport by her mother, Mrs. Shirley Timmons,, and father-in- law, J. b. McKee. Sara Sadler, who is a .member of the freshman cla^s at Trinity College, Washington, D.C‘, spent last week-end at home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. fi. Sadler. OBSERVE 35TH 7 WEDDING ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Poole observed their 35th Wed ding Anniversary on Tuesday, February 1st. House guests of Mayor and Mrs. J. J. Cornwall over the weekend were their daughter, Miss Mary Ellen Cornwall from Coker College and roommates, Misses Martha Hathcock, Caro lyn Gee, and Betsy Utley. Also Miss Nancy Nash of Asheville and John Seagers from Clemson. Rev. John Rivers, until this week pastor of All Saints Epis copal Church, left Sunday for Lexington, Ky., where he is now serving as assistant pastor of Christ Episcopal Church. Mrs. Rivers and their four children will leave Clinton February 15 to join Mr. Rivers in Lexington. Dr. and Mrs. N. C. Wessinger returned last Thursday from Vir ginia, having gone especially to attend the Dental Alumni Asso ciation continuing education meeting at the medical college in Richmond. Visiting in the Wessinger’s home while they were away was Mrs, A. 0\ Owen of Anderson. She was with her grandchildren, Derek, Karen, and Kevin Wessinger. Mb. and Mrs. Thomas Broad- well and girls, Carla and Paige, from Durham, N. C., spent the weekend with their grandpar ents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Tea gue, coming especially for their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Mike Johnson, freshman at Davidson College, Davidson, N. C. has returned following a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Olin Johnson during the college semester break. ' Cecil Wilson has returned home following several days days last week in *Greenville General Hospital. Mrs. A. A. Ramage Sr. will visit during the weekend with Mrs. J. W. Mahon in Greenville. Mrs. George Brockenbrough has returned from a visit with her sister, Mrs. W. B. Ellis and Mr. Ellis in Greenville. GRANDDAUGHTER CHRISTENED Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gasque and Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Wilder were in Dillon recently going especial ly for the christening of their granddaughter, Virginia Ashley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Gasque. The ceremony was per formed at the Casque's home in Dillon. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Seymour and boys, Morris Jr. and Donnie, visited their parents and grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Seymour and Mr. and Mrs. Haley Brown in Bowman, Ga. this past weekend. Mrs. William Cannon is con valescing at her home on Cal vert Avenue following several days treatment last week at Bailey Memorial Hospital. ALLSTATE BAND MEETING Clinton High School Band Stu dents who were selected to par ticipate in the South Carolina All State Bands in Greenville this" past weekend were Misses Carol Perry and Carolyn Bund- rick and Bobby Powell. They were accompanied to Furman University by band director, 'Harry Bouknight and his daugh ter, Miss Kathy Bouknight. Mr. and Mrs. Hairy Beden- baugh were in Louisville, Ky. recently to attend the National Showing of Mobile Homes. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Cleaver of Elberton, Ga., visited friends in the city over the weekend. Mrs. A. J. Compton and sons, Kenneth and Gary, were in Fair Forrest on Tuesday going es pecially for their son and broth er, Phil, who visited his grand mother, Mrs. Charlotte Comp ton. A recent guest of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas P. Owens was the let ter’s nephew, Albert Riebel, stu dent at the University of S. C., who visited during the semester break.
