Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Trammell were In Greenville Friday eve ning for the General Hospital School of Nursing graduating ex ercises. Their niece, Miss Di anne Davenport, was one of the graduates. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Davenport, Bliss Davenport’s parents, Miss Kathy Davenport, Mr. and Mrs. Grady Smith, Ed Childress and Mrs. H. Childress of Clinton, were also among those attending the graduation. Mrs. Ithiel Harvey was a re cent week end guest of her moth er, Blrs. L. A. Hall, in Johnston. Wade Pennington visited his mother, Mrs. Lola Pennington, in Chester Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Aber crombie with Mrs. Abercrom bie’s sister, Mrs. Nellie Cooley, of Los Angeles, Calif., who is visiting here, spent a few days with the Abercrombie’s daugh ter, Mrs. Harold Clardy, Mr. Clardy and family recently. Mr. and Blrs. Joe Carroll and family of Pendelton, spent Satuday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Abercrombie. Mr. and Mrs. James Seay, Mike Seay and John H a r 1 e Raines of Greenville, visited Bliss Feroline Seay during the past week. Miss Harriet Wilson was an overnight guest of Bliss Susan Watson in Greenville on Wednes day of last week. Bliss Wilson has resumed her studies at Fur man University in Greenville where she is a junior. She was the youth director at the Lydia Baptist Church during the sum mer. Mrs. J. H. Mr. and Mrs. David Word and Misses Sue Word and Marie Weir have been vacationing at Myrtle Beach this week. Miss Janice Goss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Goss, is spending a few days with her parents before returning to Win- throp Colege, Rock Hill, where she is a rising senior. Miss Goss has been employed at Myrtle Beach for the summer. Miss Gloria Jackson spent a few days last week with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Burton Reeder, in Clinton, while her cousin, Mrs. Billy Pitts and children of Pendelton was visit ing the Reeders. Miss Jackson will leave Friday to enter Win- throp College, Rock Hill, where she will be a freshman. A number of Lydia rseidents were in Darlington Sunday and Monday for the races. Mrs. Miley Harper of Green wood, Spurgeon Todd and sons, Robert and Mike, of New Jersey, Mrs. Charles Sparino of Arling ton, Va., and Mrs. Rudy Ostro- chovsky of Long Island, N. Y., are visiting their father, S. J.’ Todd, who is seriously ill. M. M. Todd and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rid dle of Laurens, Mr. and Mrs. A1 Coble and children of Columbia, visited Mr. Todd the past week. J. Raymond Kuykendall of Washington, D. C., visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Kuykendall over the Labor Day week-end. Little Jackie and Cathy Brown of Newberry, spent the week-end with their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. John Smith. Guests of the Smiths last week were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rohr and Bfr. and Mrs. Elworth O’Steen of Plant City, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. T. O. Williams were called to Ware Shoals last week because of the death of his sister, Mrs. Ruth Suddeth. The public is cordially invited. BROTHERHOOD VISITS The Brotherhood of the Lydia Baptist Church wil have a wor ship service at the county jail in Laurens Thursday evening (to. night)- . Tuesday evening the Brother hood will go to the county home for a worship service. CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST PARTY ENJOYED Monday evening of last week the Junior and Intermediate Girls’ Auxiliary enjoyed a com bined Meeting and party at the Lydia Baptist Church. Each one brought a gift to be put under the Christmas tree. These are to be sent to one of the Baptist mission fields. Miss Harriet Wilson, rising junior at Furman University, Greenville and summer youth director at the church, spoke on the Star Ideals. The girls sang favorite hymns of each one. Refreshments were served from the buffet table which held the lighted Christmas tree on one end and the punch bowl on the other. Mrs. R. E. Whitmire is Inter mediate GA counselor, and Miss Sandra Mils is the junior coun.- selor. Miss Wilson was presented a ?ift from the two groups.
