On Sun day afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Farmer accompanied Airman and Mrs. Cole to Mountville for a visit with Mrs. Cole’s sister, Mrs. J. B. Sellerswhite and Mr. Sellerswhite. Mrs. Claude Wallenzine and Mrs. Maxie Wallanzine and daughters visited with Mrs. Ge neva Coker in Greenwood Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. W. D. GUbert had as guests 6ver the week-end, * Mr. and Mrs.i Bill Fuller and family of Lake Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Wilson had as their guests Saturday, Mr. Wilson\ parents of Abbe ville. W. A. Jones and Howard and Mrs. Til man of Greenwood vis ited Mrs. H. A. Adams Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Fulmer y of Johnston visited with Mrs. Fulmer’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Leopard over the week end. CAMP FIRE GIRLS MEET On Tuesday night, January, 28th the 8th grade Jr. High girls of the Clinton Mills Camp Fire Girls met at the home of their leaders, Mrs. Mary Fallow and Mrs. Belle Fallow for their reg- * ular meeting. The meeting was opened with the group reciting the “Lord’s Prayer,’’ plans are being made for a wiener roast. Suzie Osborne closed with pray er, afterward games and refresh ments were enjoyed by all. All members were present for the meeting UNION MEETING The Brotherhood of Mainte nance of Way Employees, local railroad union held their regular quarterly meeting at White- ford’s Restaurant Thursday night, January 30th. After din ner had been served to the mem bers and their guests, R. L. Hamilton of Greenwood had charge of the business discus sion due to the absence of the president, Boyce Wilson: * Mrs. Elizabeth Gregory of Chester and Miss Beatrice Hawks attended the funeral of their uncle, Herbert Varner in Lila, Georgia Monday. Mr. Var ner, brother of Mrs. Suzie * Hawks passed away Saturday at Athens, Georgia. , Mr. and Mrs. Bill Freeman of Columbia were guests- of Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Creswell Sunday. Mrs. George Pressley spent several days last week in New berry as guests of her daugh ter, Mrs. Margaret Rhinehardt and Mr. Rhinehardt. Mrs. Joe Smith and Mrs. Jan ice Reeder of Joanna visited with friends near Columbia last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Windsor and Sybil were guests of ^fr and Mrs. Edgar Brazil! in Co lumbia Saturday, going espe>- cially to celebrate Sybil’s birth , day. Monday Mr. and Mrs. Windsor accompanied Sybil to Rock Hill where she is a stu dent at Winthrop College. Phillips, airman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hobert Phillips of 209 Helen St.,- of Clin ton, visited Palma de Mallorca in the Mediterranean on Jan. _16 aboard the attack aircraft car rier USS Shangri-La. \ Crewmembers toured the 2,000- year-old city of Palma on the is land known as the “Pearl of the Mediterranean.” The crew is scheduled to visit several more ports of call throughout the Med iterranean at, the carrier operates with the Sixth Fleet. The Shangri-La began her cur rent tour last October. She is ex pected to return to Mayporl, Fla., late in the spring. Robert L. Gaskin, engineman second class, USN, son iof Mr. and Mrs. Hugh B. Gaskin of 612 North Broad St., Clinton, is serv ing aboard the command ship * USS Wright operating out of Not- f - ( falk, Va. Wright provides command and control facilities which will con tribute to the defense of the Uni ted States through the world-wide communications facilities of the ship. * . She has some of the most ex tensive communications equip ment ever put aboard a ship. She is capable of sending messages to any ship, aircraft or station in the world.
