John Davenport, Jr., and Ron- ny visited the mountains of North Carolina over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cooper and son of Lanford, were Thursday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Murphy. Ralph and Richard Home of Fort Mill, were Saturday guests of Mrs. Willie O’Dell. Mrs. Aileen Hunnicutt, Mrs. Davis and Shirley Pratt of Ninety-Six, were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hunnicutt. Mark Tew of Fayetteville, N. C., was a Saturday visitor of his sister, Mrs. Swanney Wicker. Mrs. Belle Tew returned home at this time after an extended visit with her son. Friends will be interested to know William Beckom is a pa tient at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood for treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Cole spent the week-end in Charles ton with their son and daughter- in-law, A1C and Mrs. C. B. Cole, Jr, Little Cindy Cole returned home with them for a visit. Mrs. Luther Poag was a Sun day visitors of her sister, Mrs. Mattie Boozer, in Newberry. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Adkerson are spending this week visiting relatives in Covington, Tenn. CHICKEN STEW The Ladies’ Fellowship class of the Joanna Assembly of God will sponsor a chicken stew Friday, October 18, at the Joanna Club House. The price will be 90c a quart with container and $1.00 without ,and will go on sale at 5:00 p. m. Julian Hunnicutt, as sisted by the ladies, will prepare the stew. SPECIAL PRATER SERVICES Epworth Methodist Church will hold two special prayer meetings in preparation for their coming revival next week. Wed nesday, October 23, Rev. Richard McAlister of Hopewell Methodist Church, will be the speaker at 7:90 p. m., and the following night, Thursday, October 24, at 7^00 p. m. Rev. Julian Weisner Clinton, will be the guest and Mrs. John Cobb and family of Belmont, N. C.; Mr. and Mrs. Harper Wherry of Newber ry; Mr. and Mrs. John Clark of Clinton. FOY FAMILY REUNION The annual Foy family reunion was held at the Joanna club house Sunday, with 93 members present, Lunch was served at 1:00 o’clock. ^ During the afternoon Johnny Cassell, executive vice-president of the Bank of Easley, showed and narrated slides taken on his recent trip to Europe with the Agri-business group, of farms abroad. SMITH REUNION The family of John Thomas Smith held the annual reunion at the picnic shelter on Milton Road Sunday, with 75 members present. Invited guests included Mrs. J H. Wallenzine, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bragg, Sr., Michael Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Smith and daughter of Ware Shoals. BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT BECKOM Mr. and Mrs. Billy Beckom of Greenwood, announce the birth of a son, Michael Gregg, on Oct. 10 at Self Memorial hospital. The little newcomer is the great- grandson of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Beckom of Joanna. Hurricane News MRS. Dickert Sun day. * Hurricane Church will have Family Night at the Church Wednesday 6:30 p.m. There will be a covered dish supper followed by different group meetings that will begin at 7:30 p.m. There will be a Revival and Homecoming a t Hurricane Church Oct. 20-27. Rev. Earl Wilson of Whitmire First Baptist Church will be guest speaker. The revival will begin with Homecoming on Oct. 20th. Ev eryone is asked to bring a picnic lunch. ' EPWORTH HOMECOMING Epworth Methodist Church held the annual homecoming on Sunday in the picnic area behind the church. Rev. Hugh Bichley, of Clearwater, a former pastor, was the guest speaker. Among out of town guests for the occasion were: Miss Margar et Warren of Columbia; Mrs. Annie Chapman of Greenville; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Kay of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Galloway of Trenton; Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Moseley, and Mrs. Ruth Smith of Greenville; Mr. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Scogin and Mitch and Mrs. and Mrs. Rish- ard Fennell and Curtis visited in the mountains of N. C., Sun day. Cathy Young will celebrate her birthday Oct. 22nd. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Caldwell and family visited Mrs. Virginia Caldwell in Columbia, Sunday. After several weeks visit in Winston Salem, N. C., Mrs. Geo. S. Wham is at her home here. Mrs. M. L. Crisp fell and broke a small bone in her wrist last Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Young visited in Columbia Sunday with Mrs. Young’s sister, Mrs. Paul Coleman and family. Miss Amelia Finley spent the week-end in Fountain Inn with her aunt, Mrs. Tom Maddox and family, while there she accom panied them to Gatlinburg, Tenn. for a short visit.
