Mrs. Ollie Abrams and Doris spent Thursday in Sumter with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kennedy at Shaw AFB, and visited the iris gardens. “ _ ... Mr. and Mrs. Donald Smith and children of Rock Hill, visited the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Carr, during the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Abrams vis ited Mrs. James Burnett at the Spartanburg General hospital on Sunday. Miss Ruth Hair spent Wednes day night in Greenwood with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Olga Hair. ' Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Craig and Chrystell were guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Craig, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Craig in Greenville over the week-end. Mrs. Jimmie Murrah, Mrs. Grace Lewis and Terry were Tuesday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. “Skipper” Lewis in Columbia. Mrs. Nora Burton of Whitmire, visited Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Mar tin last Sunday. Jim and Joe Abrams joined - Miss Linda Abrams of Columbia for the week-end at Myrtle Beach. Miss Ruth Hair spent Friday and Saturday in Columbia with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Francis returned home with their duagh- ter, Mrs. George Vasen, of Clar endon Hills, 111., for a visit. Mrs. Maurice Davenport and Linda, and Mrs. Swanney Wicker were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Wicker in Newber- Lt. 'Reaves Wins Distinction Lackland AFB, Texas—Glenn B. Reaves of Joanna, S. C., graduated, with distinction when he received his commission as second lieutenant in the United States Air Force Officer Train ing school just concluded. Lieutenant Reaves, son of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Simpson of the Whitmire highway, Joanna, received his appointment to OTS through competitive examina tions with other college gradu ates. He is being assigned to Keesler AFB, Miss., for training as a communications officer. The lieutenant, who holds a B. S. degree, attended Presbyterian College, Clinton, S. C., and Okla homa State University. He is a member of Kap*a Alpha. IBs wife is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Davis V. Pitts of Clinton, S. C. Mrs. E. J. Willingham spent Sunday in Newberry with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Fulmer and attended the graduation of their son, Jerry, at Newberry College Sunday. Mrs. Myrtle Cooper and chil dren, Helen and Raymond, of Lanford, were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Murphy on Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. James Fulmer attended the graduation exercises at Newberry College Sunday. RECMVES EAGLE SCOUT ^ ^ AWARD On last Sunday morning at the First Baptist Church prior to the worship service, Steve Lehman, son of Mrs. Mary F. Lehman, and the late George Edward Lh- man, received his Eagle Scout award. Bill Brackett, executive scout director, presented the award to Steve which was pinned on by his mother. Mrs. Lehman was pre sented a miniature Eagle pin. BIBLE SCHOOL BEGINS Vacation Bible school at the Presbyterian church will begin on Monday morning, JUhe 10, and continue through Friday, June 14. Classes will be held f^om 9:00 a. m. to 11:00 a m.. each day. DEDICATION DAY On Sunday, June 9, during the morning worship hour, the new children’s building of the First Baptist Church will be dedicated. Open house and a reception will be held from 2:30 until :500 for those who wish to tour the new building.
