Mr. and Mrs. Morris Seymour and sons, Morris, Jr. and Don ald were week-end guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hailey Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Horace Seymour in Bowman, Ga. ATTENDED RACES Mr. and Mrs. Abit Alexander went to Camden visiting Mrs. Alexander’s sister, Mrs. Gene Sheorn. On Saturday they at tended the Carolina Cup Races. Mrs. Frances McCrary and son, Ken, were also there for the races. Milling Blalock has returned to the University of South, Swan- nee, Tenn., after spending the holidays with his parents. Dr. and Mrs. George Blalock. Milling spent the weekend in Columbia and attended the Carolina Cup Races in Camden on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Earl* Pitts were in Camden visiting Mr. Pitts’s sister and brother-in-law. Dr. and Mrs. Robert Grube and also attended the Carolina Cup Races while there. RETURN FROM CALIF. Robert Hamer has returned home from San Francisco, Calif, after being there for several weeks on business. Jimmy Chandler and Miss Fleda Earle of Laurens spent the past weekend in Columbia with • Mr. and Mrs. Henry Chandelr. Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Pitts of Spartanburg spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Davis Pitts. Guests Sunday of Col. and Mrs. L. D. Lott were Mr. Lott’s bro ther and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lott of Blackville and also Mr. Lott’s sister, Mrs. Leota Lybrand of Monette. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Martin were in Savannah over the past weekend attending the Castle Motor Home, Inc., demonstration there. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Martin and children and Mr. and Mrs. Belton Jackson toured the moun tains near Chimney Rock, Sun day. VISIT GARDENS Mr. and Mrs. Dan Yar borough, Miss Lilly Yarborough, and Mrs. Nora Yarborough spent the weekend in Charleston visiting the gardens. Mrs. D. H. Evening services will be at 7:30. The pastor, Rev. Marion Ringer, will bring the messages. Mrs. Newman Shpuse attended Delta Kappa Gamma’s state meeting in Charleston last week end. This was the twenty-fifth annual convention. The Epsilon chapter, with Mrs N.. A. Shouse as president, was hostess for the banquet on Saturday night. Shady Grove 4-H Club will meet Monday afternoon at 3:30 at the club house. April is the month for 4-H Club achievement program for girls in Laurens County. At the April meeting each girl will bring an example of something she has made for her project this year. These will be judged. Record books are to be handed in during April or May. BAKE SALE The Laurens County Home Demonstration Council will spon sor a bake sale on Saturday, April 6, at 9 a. m. Cakes, cook ies, and pies will be on sale in front of Belk’s in Clinton. Food will be cooked by members of Shady Grove, Eden, and Cross Hill.-Mountville Clubs. CLUB MEETING Mrs. James Evans, president, presided. Mrs. Bessie Johnson gave the devotional. Plans were made during the business session for the Cake Sale on Saturday. The treasurer reported that the recent Chicken Stew was a suc cess. Hurricane Baptist Church will begin its first Baptist Training Union Sunday night April 7th at 7:30. This is the first BTU to be organized in the History of Hurricane Church. After the meeting, Mrs. Patte accompanied Capt. and Mrs. Chris Patte for a few days stay at their quarters at Aber deen Proving Grounds, Md., re joining the Presbyterian College Choir at Petersburg, Va. Amoung those attending the Carolina Cup Races from Clin ton were Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Jacobs, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. George Cornelson, and Dr. and Mrs. Dan Orr. Mrs. George H. Ellis has re turned from a month’s stay with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dill Ellis in Dillon.
