Guests were invited for refreshments served in buffet style from a prettily appointed tea table adorned with pink car nations and overlaid with a lace and cut work cloth in the dining room. Mrs. Robert Roper and Mrs. Chalmers McCutchen poured cof fee from either end of the table. Sandwiches, petits fours, mints, and salted nuts were served. Miss Harris was given a cor sage of camellias and a heirloom silver berry spoon. Artistic arrangements of spring flowers and plants were used ef fectively through the home. The meeting was called to or der by the president, Mrs. Esther Pitts, Mrs. Essie Workman led the opening prayer followed with salute to the flag. Reports form different chairmen were given and nominating committee was appointed consisting of Mrs. B. F. Wingard, Chairman; Mrs. George W. Copeland and Mrs. Thomas Baldwin. Community Welfare Chairman, Mi*s. B. F. Wingard, introduced Cantey Gordon, Jr., Administra tor of Whitten Village, who pre sented details on a project which the group voted to adopt. Mrs. Thomas J. Leaky, pro gram leader, presented a pro gram on Music. Three types of music were stressed. Religious- Hymn by Miss Shelia Gilliam. Piano Solo 4- "Cathedral of Sea” by Miss Ame Lou Black. Popu lar music — "Harbor Lights” and “Somewhere Over The Rain bow” by Miss Beverly Muller. Other hostesses serving deli cious refreshments with Mrs. Baldwin during the social hour were: Mrs. W. C. SENN IN SATURDAY RITES A lovely wedding of wide in terest was that of Miss Cornelia Bethea Harris of Clinton and George Foster Senn of Silver- street which took place at 4:30 Saturday afternoon, March 23, at the First Presbyterian Church in this city. Dr. W. Redd Turner, pastor of the church, performed the single-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. William Wilson Harris and the late Mr. Harris. The bride groom is the son of the lata Mr. and Mrs. J. Foster Senn. Easter Lilies and sprays of magnolia were arranged on the altar for decoration; and Cathe dral tapers burned in toll brass candelabrae. ■■ ^ Mrs. Heath Copeland, organ ist, and Mrs; Thomas Wood of Greenwood soloist, presented a program of wedding music. Miss Bethea wore a street-length dress of tur quoise silk and headpiece of mat ching cabbage rose with circular veil. She wore matching shoes and short white gloves. Her cre scent bouquet was of feathered pink carnations. . Bridesmaids were Mrs. A. S. Schell of Atlanta, Ga., sister of the groom, Mrs. Thomas P. Lesesne III of Montgomery, Ala., and Mrs. Lewis M. Stephens of Clinton. They were similarly at tired as the honor attendant and carried crescent bouquets of pink carnations. The bride, given in marriage by her cousin, Job H. Little of Columbia,/was lovely in her ori ginal wedding gown of pure silk imported peau de soie. It was featured with semi basque bodice having bateau neckline and fit ted sleeves. The full bouffant skirt was highlighted with verti cal motifs of Alencon lace from waisUine to hemline oytUaed in seed pearls on side of skirt accented with large obi bdw end ing in chapel train. The triple semi crown of seed pearls and irredescent beads was attached to a bouffant imported French Illusion veil. The couple will reside at 1307 Glenn St., in Newberry until their new home is completed in Silverstreet. V Mrs. Smith Hostess To Bridge Club Mrs. Avery Smith was hostess to members of her bridge club last Thursday at her home on Holland St. Spring decorations made the setting for the two table bridge. A dessert course was served followed with several progres sions of bridge. Mrs. Paul Muller and Mrs. Harry Bouknight were prize win ners for the afternoon. Ladies' Golf Asso.
