Miss Ruth Hair, Wendell and Lester Hair were Saturday visi tors of their brother, F. M. Hair, at the Baptist Hospital in Colum- bia. Mrs. Buddy Chitwood and son, Chris, of Nashville, Tenn., is spending this week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Lanford. Jimmy Templeton of Marion, N. C., visited his mother and grandmother, Mrs. Roberta Tem pleton and Mrs. Willie O’Dell,, on Thursday and attended the fun eral of John M. Ross. Mrs. Cora Poag observed a birthday last Thursday and had as her dinner guests Mr. and Mrs. Sam Strickland, Mrs'. Sa vannah Bice, Mrs. John Gam- brell, Jimmy and Danny Rhodes of Greenwood, and Mrs. Mattie Boozer of Newberry. NATIONAL GIRL SCOUT WEEK Sunday, March 10, begins Na tional GirT Scout Week, and the Joanna Girl Scouts will begin by - going to Epworth Methodist Church in a group for the mor ning worship service. Each day the Girl Scouts will be doing something different. To start off the activities for the week will be a covered dish supper on Monday evening at 6:00 at-the--chrtr'house for all leaders, committee members, and parents. Mr. and Mrs. Perry F. Swy- gert spent the week-end in Au gusta, Ga., with Mr. and Mrs. James Dolan. Tuesday will be Citizenship Day, a visit to the fire depart ment and city hall in Clinton is being planned, Wednesday is Health and Safety Day, Thursday is Friendship Day—fruit will be taken to all shut-ins, Friday will be Arts and Crafts Day with a cook-out at the picnic shelter, and Saturday will be Out-of-Doors Day. With the end of Girl Scout Week will also be the end of the cookie sale. If you haven’t al ready bought cookies from some scout member, please do so before the end of the week. WOMAN’S CLUB TO MEET The Joanna Woman’s Club meeting tonight (Thursday) at 7:00. Mrs. Hack Prater will have charge of the program. All members are urged to be pres ent. TO SPEAK AT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Mrs. Lewis Lancaster will speak at the First Presbyterian Church, March 10 at 7:30 p. m. She went to China in 1917—as Eliza Neville—and married Mr. Lancaster in 1918. They did mis sionary work in China until 1950. For eleven years they worked will hold the regular monthly i for the Board of World Missions, Southern Presbyterian Church, Nashville, Term. Tvvo of their three children are now working in mission fields. Since their >retiremept, they have made their home in Clin ton. .- WOMEN OF CHURCH The women of tile dhurCh of the First Presbyterian Church will meet with Mrs. J. M. Hat ton on Monday, March 11 at 7:30 p. m. The morning circle will meet on March 20 at 10 a. m. with Mrs. D. H. McFadden. TO SPEAK SUNDAY The Rev. Louis Coward of Greenville, conference superin tendent, will be the speaker at the Joanna Pentecostal Holiness Church for the morning and evening services Sunday. At this time it will be decied who the new preacher will be. CAMPBELL Mr. and Mrs. Keith Campbell announce the birth of a daugh ter, Rebecca Jane, at the Whit mire Clinic on February 21.
