After the supper, Dr. R. C. Ed wards, president of Clemson Col lege, spoke to the group on educa tion. WHITMIRE REUNION HELD AT HURRICANE The descendants of J. F. and Bessie Whitmire held their reun ion at the Hurricane Community Building on Sunday, October 7. Dinner was served at 1 o’clock. Tenn., and New berry. REVIVAL AT JOANNA ASSEMBLY OF GOD The Joanna Assembly of God Church began its fall revival on Wednesday night, October 17, at 7:00. The Rev, J. C. Hunnicutt of Columbia, is the visiting minis ter. Everyone is invited to at tend these services. Bryson and Mrs George Wham entertained the Friendly Garden Club at the home of the former for the Oc tober meeting last week. Dahlias, chrysanthemums and Mr. pink cannas with pyracantha ber ries were used effectively throughout the home. Mrs. J. H. Thomason, Jr., president presided. Mrs. C. S. Pinson gave a report of the nom inating committee. Officers nom inated were, president, Mrs. E. W. Pinson; vice president, Mrs W. M. Leaman; secretary, Mrs. Jake Rasor; and treasurer, Mrs L. R. Adams. Several members will assist with the X-ray mobile unit’s-visit to Cross Hill. Mrs. L. R. Adams was appoint ed to the beautififcation com mittee. Mrs. Vance Finley presented a program on “Flowers in Flori da.’’ She told of the culture and growth of chrysanthemums and gladioli, their purposes, packing and shipping. She illustrated her talk with pictures. Mrs. C. L. Chapman and daughter, Mrs. Murray of Chica go, were guests. The hostesses, assisted by Mrs. L. R. West Columbia spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. John Livings ton. They were the guests, along with Johnny and Karen Livings ton, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Work man, and Mr. and Mrs. Qlin Adams of Greenwood, at the lake home of Mr. and Mrs. John Adams. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Segars and children spent the past weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Phillips at Spruce Pine, N. C. Miss Elaine Austin spent the weekend with her parents and had as her guest, Miss Carol Mc Clellan, her Lander College room mate. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Mills of Gastonia, N.
