Craig and Crystelle. Mrs. W. W. Hair and Miss Ruth Hair spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt Nobels in Newberry. Mrs..Sallie Hightower of Lock hart, Mr. nad Mrs. Edward C. Hamilton of Kansas City, Mo., spent last week with the Rev. and Mrs. J. Herbert Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. William Poplin of Greenville, were Friday din ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Sanders. Mrs. Grover Nabors spent Sun day with Mr. and Msr. Luther Nabors in Laurens. Mrs. Carson Nabors and children. Dale and Dennis, were Snuday afternoon visitors of the Nabors family. Vernon Garner of Newberry spent the week end with his moth er, Mrs. Vergie Garner and fami ly. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Bishop and Jamie, and Mrs. McNeil Trotter were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. L.. H. Rhinehart in Bates- burg. Mr. and Mrs. Jones Wattsnztne and Otis Smith, were called to Clearwater last Wednesday be cause of the death of Mrs. Wal- lenzine’s and Mrs. Smith’s sister in law, Mrs. W. W. Smith, they remained for the funeral which was held on Thursday. Mrs. J. W. Pennington and children, of Atlanta, Ga., spent the weekend with Mrs. Sara OShields and family. Tom O’ Shields returned home with Mrs. Kennigton, for a week’s visit. John Earl O’Shields formerly stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, is spending this week with the family, following this leave he will go to Fort Ben jamin Harrison in Indianapolis, Indiana, for 5 weeks of special training. Dick Horne, of Fort Mill, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil O’Dell and Mrs. J. D. O’Dell. Mrs. Pearl Williams will spend Easter weekend in Prosperity, as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bedenbeaugh. Mrs. Roberta Templeton spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Roy O’Dell iii Fort Mill. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Fowler and son, Larry Dean of Gaffney, spent the weekend with Mrs. B R. Bowen. . Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cooper of Danville, Va., Mr. and Mrs Clarence Cooper of Landford were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Murphy. Mrs. Helen Bozard and grand son Martin, spent several days last week in Pendleton, with Mr and Mrs. Kenneth Griffis. Mrs Kelly Waits accompanied them on the trip and remained for the day. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. J D. Bozard and Margaret, joined the family and were accompani ed home by Mrs. Bozard and Martin. S-Sgt. and Mrs. Virlyn Daven port and children of Savannah Ga., spent the weekend with Mr and Mrs. John Henry Davenport Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Davenport re turned home with them for an ex tended visit. C. V. Verner of Piedmont and Pat Ross of Greenville, were Wednesday visitors of John M. Ross and Mrs. Lavinia Cooley. Mr. and Mrs. J. Miss Elizabeth Dickey, who had the misfortune to fall and break her arm, is convalescing at the home of her sister, Mrs. J. B. Livingston and Mr. Liv ingston in Prosperity. Mr and Mrs. Floyd Pitts joined Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Dean of Philadelphia, Penn., and are vacationing this week in Florida BIRTHDAY DINNER On Sunday Mrs. Joe Abrams was honored with a birthday din ner at her home. Members of her family and a number of friends gathered for the occasion. The dinner was held on the back lawn, with the picnic table over laid in white and centered with the beautifully decorated birth day cake. The honoree received many nice gifts. Those attending included: Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hamby of Easley, Mrs. Jimmy Hamby and daughter, Leasia, of Liberty, Miss Doris Wicker of Pomaria, Miss Margaret Ben nett of Greenville, Rev. and Mrs. J. BIRTHDAYS AND WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES Mr. and Mrs. Thomas V. Croft observed a wedding anniversary on April 2S. Milton Bolick is celebrating a birthday today, April 19. Dale Mack of Laurens is recu perating following an appendec tomy at the local hospital. Miss Anne Simpson is a patient at the local hospital where she underwent an appendectomy. Little Penny Nabors, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Nabors, has been transferred from the local hospital to General Hospit al in Greenville for treatment. WALDROP Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Wal drop of Wilmington, N. C., an nounce the birth of a daughter, Linda Marie, on April 6 at James Walker Hospital. Mrs. Waldrop is the former Katie Grammel of Munich, Germany. The parents are former residents of Joanna. VAUGHN Mr. and Mrs. William Vaughn of Newberry, announce the birth of a daughter, Beverly Jean, on April 11 at Newberry Hospital Mrs. Vaughn is the former Betty Jean Puckett of Joanna. THOMAS * Mr. and Mrs. John E. Thomas announce the birth of a daugh ter, Vicki Earlene, on April 19 at the local hospital. Mrs. Thomas is the former Betty Young. EPWORTH METHODIST CHURCH NEWS This afternoon (Thursday) at 3:30 an Easter egg hunt will be held, at the church. All children of the church up through the Junior department are asked to come and bring 2 eggs with them. Mrs. J. B. Killian is supt. of the children division. REVIVAL TO BEGIN The spring revived at Epworth will begin next Sunday evening April 22, and will continue through Sunday, April 29. Serv ices will begin at 7:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. R. Bryce Herbert, Greenwood district superintendent. The Rev. Francis Gossett of Laurens will lead the song service. AU mem bers are urged to attend, and the public is cordially invited. SPECIAL PRAYER SERVICES Special prayer service was held last evening and will be held again tonight beginning at 7 o’clock, in preparation for the re vival. Mrs. John W. Flow, 72, died sud denly Thursday afternoon at the Newberry County hospital of a heart attack suffered earlier while fishing on Lake Murray. Mr. Flow was a native of Lan caster, but had made his home in Joanna for 45 years. He was a member of Epworth Methodist Church and was employed by Jo anna Cotton Mills until retire ment seven years ago. He was a veteran of World War I- Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Gertrude McClendon Flow, of Jo anna; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Galloway of Augusta, Ga., and Mrs. Catherine F. Pra ter of Joanna; two brothers, B. C. Flow and T. C. Flow, both of Joanna; three sisters, Mrs. Connie McManus of Newberry; Mrs. Etta McCluney of Chester; and Mrs. Maude Dean of Co- umbus, Ga.; and two grandchil dren. Funeral services were con ducted Friday at 4:30 p. m. at Epworth Methodist Church by Rev. J. Herbert Thomas and Rev. Hugh Pollard. Burial was in Rosemont cemetery in Clin ton. ROBERT SCOTT BURNETT Robert Scott Burnett, infant son of James R. and Margaret Hughes Burnett, died Thursday night at the Joanna hospital. Surviving in addition to his parents are a brother, Tommie Burnett, of the home; his grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred O. Burnett, Sr., of Clinton, R. E. Hughes of Joanna, and Mrs. H. E, Fowler of Dallas, Texas. Graveside services were con ducted Friday at 2:00 p.- m. at Rosemont cemetery by Rev. J. Gordon Peery.
