KAPPA ALPHA CONVENTION Professor Kenneth N. Baker leaves the 22nd for Memphis, Tenn., where he will attend the 4th convention of Kappa Alpha Order. Professor Baker is Prov ince Commander of Graves Prov ince which includes colleges in South Carolina Commander and Mrs. H. M. Rowland and son, Michael, of the Naval Air Station, Decatur, Ga , visited the former's brother and sister-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Rowland, here on Friday enroute to Dunn, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Addison and children are vacationing this week at Ocean Drive Beach. VACATION IN FLORIDA Mrs. E. B. Pinson and daugh ters, Misses Dorothy, Mary Pran ces and Ann Pinson, accompanied by the former’s sister, Mrs. R. J. Bell, vacationed a few days last week visiting points of interest on the east and west coasts of Flori da. Mrs. Price Aycock and daugh ter, Eileen, of Sumter, were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. C ; . Johnson, Jr. . , Lt. and Mrs Robert Blaze of Camp Lejeune, N. C., were week end guests of Prof, and Mrs. Ken neth N. Baker, also Mr and Mrs. Baker, Jr., of Louisville, Ky., who are visiting here v Dr. and Mrs. Marshall W. Brown are vacationing this week at Surfside Beach where they were joined by the former’s sister, Mrs. T. W. Caskey, Mr. Caskey and family of Steubenville, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs Carroll Reid and children of Columbia, were over night visitors on Friday with Mrs. Fred Scott, who accompan ied them to the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee for the week-end Mr. and Mrs. Alan Suddeth and children of Bethesda, Md., spent last week with the former’s moth er Mrs. B H. Suddeth RETURN FROM TOUR Miss Agnes Davis and Miss Jane Ann Davis have returned to their home here after a two months tour of Europe and Eng land While away they visited their nephew and brother, Lt. T. R. Davis and Mrs. Davis in Ba varia Southern Germany. Mr and Mrs James P. Sloan spent the weekend at Cherry Grove Beach, WITH PARENTS Mr and Mrs. Jack K. Barnes and children of Boonton, N. J., Mr and Mrs Carroll Barnes and daughters of Burlington, N. C., are visiting their parents, Mr and Mrs Eric Barnes, for a few days. Mrs W. E. Neighbors has re turned from Hartsville where she has been visiting her daughter, Mrs Paul Stanley, and family, and granddaughter. Mrs Frank Oates, and family. Mrs. Grady Seawright of Pen dleton, spent Wednesday of the past week with her daughter, Mrs Horace Horton, and Mr Horton. ON WESTERN TRIP' Mr. and Mrs. W Q. Chisholm and children, Pat and Billy, have returned from a ten-day trip to the Grand Canyon, through the western states and to California. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cooper, with Mr and Mrs. Fred Oxley and children of Laurens, are va cationing this week in Charleston and nearby beaches. Mrs Milford Smith and chil dren, Gail and Barry, are visit ing her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Jones, in Blacksburg. Mrs. Dan Orr and children left Tuesday to visit Dr. Orr’s mother, Mrs. Ernest Shirley, and Mr. Shirley, who islll, in Gainesville, Ga. Dr Orr accompanied them to Gainesville. Miss Florence Winn is at home after attending summer school at Shorter College, Rome, Ga. VISIT DAUGHTER Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Dailey have returned from a visit with their daughter, Mrs. Cecil Goode, and Mr. Goode in Nashville, Tenn., going especially to see their new grandson, Jay Everette Goode. Mr and Mrs. Charlie Hughes and sons spent the week-end in Cedar Grove, N. C., with his mother, Mrs R. D. Hughes. , Mr and Mrs O. R Meetze of Columbia, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joe H. Bonds. Mr and Mrs. John Roseboro spent several days with Mr. and Mrs Everett Carson of Gastonia, N C., at their cottage on Cataw ba Lake last week Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pitts and children of Greensboro, N. C., Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Pitts and chil dren of Bethune, returned yester days to their homes after a few days visit here with their broth er, Charles Pitts, and other rela tives Mrs John F. Beckman, who had been visiting her mother, Mrs. R. E. Ferguson, Sr, re turned by plane Tuesday to her home in Lodi, Calif. Miss Ame Lou Black leaves Saturday for Pawleys Island where she will work for several weeks. Suzanne Turner, of Decatur, Ga., who has been spending the week with her grandmother, Mrs. S. G. Dillard, will return home tomorrow. She was accompan ied here for the week-end by her mother, Mrs. Paul Turner and Mrs. Bill Wadsworth. Also a week-end guest of Mrs. Dillard was her niece, Mrs. Emerson Odom, of Salters. Miss June Adair has returned to her home here after a stay with her aunt. Mrs. C. I. Coop er. of Greenwood, at her sum mer cottage at Bat Cave, N. C. Miss Mary Keith Adair, of Greenville, was also at home for a few days and they were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Watts in Georgetown. IN NEW HOME Mr and Mrs. C. H. Davis and family are occupying their new home on Lakewood Drive. Pvt. David Cook, who is sta tioned at Fort Jackson, Colum bia. spent the week-end with his mother, Mrs. C. C. Smith and Mr. Smith. He had as guests Pvt. Jordan Alford and Pvt. William Campbell, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., who are stationed at Fort Jackson in the same company. Dawn, Susan and Joe Cousins, of Chapin, spent a few days last week with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David Adams and aunt, Mrs. Shaylor Adams FROM TEXAS Dr. and Mrs. William Moor head and son, Billy, of Houston, Texas, visited the former’s moth er, Mrs. W. A. Moorhead and other relatives here last week Mr. and Mrs. Fuller L. Reese, Jr., and sons, Buck and Bob, va cationed a few days last week at Ocean Drive Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Julian S. Bolick were in Georgetown during the week to attend the funeral of H. G. Tarbox, father-in-law of their daughter, Mrs H G. Tarbox, Jr. Jimmy Furr was at Camp Soc- areda, Cedar Mountain. N. C., a few days last week to attend a workshop for student council | members. LOSES BROTHER Mr and Mrs Lank Furr, Mr and Mrs. Jim Furr and Mrs. : Curtis Freeman were in Tryon, IN. C., on Monday to attend the funeral of George Dedmondt, brother of Mrs. Lak Furr FROM TEXAS Mrs. John Forsyth and chil dren, Emily and John, of Fort Worth, Texas, are visiting her mother, Mrs. L. B. Dillard. Dr. Forsyth, who is at summer train ing camp for military service at Bedford, Mass., and Margaret Forsyth, who is tfsiting her aunt, Mrs. Jack Hammond in New York, will join them here the first of September to ac company them home. Also visit ing with their mother, Mrs. Dillard, are Mrs. Allen Mc- i Sween and children, John, Lar ry and Kathy, of Greensboro, N. C., and Miss Emily Dillard, of Greenville. Mr. and Mrs James W. Cox and children are vacationing this week at Jacksonville Beach, Fla Mrs Cassie Oliver Talbot will return this week-end to the Thornweil campus following a visit with relatives in Oregon and Kentucky. FROM FLORIDA Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Milam, of Leesburg, Fla., and Mrs. Cecil Dye,-of Orlando, Fla., visited relatives here last week. During the week, Mrs. Milam and Mrs. Dye accompanied by Mrs John Roseboro, Miss Kate Milam and Billy Ballard spent a few days in the Smokey Mountains. Mr. Milam remained with his broth er, Dillard Milam, Sr. Mrs. T. C. Johnson, Jr., and daughter, Julie, return today from Chester where they have been spending a few days with her sister, Mrs. Bobby Coleman. While away they were also gpests of friends there. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Cason, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Martin and chil dren accompanied by Mrs. L. B. Bowden, of Chattanooga, who has been visiting here, were guests of relatives in Tignal, Rayle and Warrenton, Ga., the past week-end. They went spe cially to attend the wedding of R. A. Cason and Mrs Mamie Ruth Biggers, of Washington, Ga., at Sardis Baptist Church, Rayle. Mr. Cason served as bast man for his brother. WITH SISTER Mrs. John Klinefelter, of Wich ita, Kans., is visiting her sis ter, Mrs. R. E. Sturgeon. Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Holland, accompanied their daughter, Mrs. James T. Smith, Mr. Smith and sons, Michael and Ronnie, of Columbia, to the mountains for the week-end, visiting at Maggie Valley and Brevard, Nv C.
