A. Hannah and Mr. Hannah in Villa Rica, Ga. Donald Brown has been in ducted into the U. S. Army for 6 months training. He is now sta tioned at Fort Jackson in Colum bia. Donald is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Brown. Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Stewart, (Granny) Davis and Miss Jeri Stewart, of Thorn well, attended the Stewart family reunion on Sunday of last week at Bold Springs school house in Green wood County. Mrs. Ruby Bennett accompan ied Mrs. J. W. May and Mrs. Olive Sparks, of Laurens, and spent the week-end in Richmond, Va. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Holson- back, of Newberry, visited her mother, Mrs. J. H. Craft at Jo anna Hospital on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Weathers, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Hawkins and children, Noel, Penny and Kevin. of Greenwood, spent Sunday with Misses Nora and Jim Hawkins and Dock. A Saturday guest of Miss Nora Hawkins was A1 Sul livan, of Richmond, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Pitts, of Charlotte, N. C., were the Fri day overnight visitors of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil O’Dell. Miss Sue O’Dell accom panied them home for a 2 weeks visit. Mrs. J. W. Kennington and children, of Atlanta, Ga., are here for an extended visit with her mother, Mrs. Sarah O’Shields. Little (Buster) Ken nington is recuperating from a tonsilectomy he received at the Newberry hospital. Mr. and Mrs. George Jones and children, of Anderson, visit ed her mother, Mrs. J. H. Craft and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil O’Dell Sunday. Mrs. Anne Cole and Mrs. R. R. Rice and daughter, Robbie, of Jacksonville, Fla., are visiting Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Francis. Mrs. Annie Laura Simpson was the week-end guest of Mrs. Sallie Mae Franklin in Whitmire. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mundy and children of Orangeburg, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Elliott. Miss Jackie Hunnicutt is spend ing a vacation with her sister, Mrs. U. A. Sanders, and Mr. San ders in Pinevllle, La. Mr. and Mrs. Dock Buchanan and Mrs. Roberta Templeton at tended the Buchanan family re union Sunday at the home of Mrs. Platte Prather in Clinton, j Michael Cooley is attending school at the Palmetto Military Academy at Fort Jackson in Co lumbia for two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Waits, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Waits and daugh ter, Linda, of Belton, and Karen Gardner of Spartanburg, spent the week-end at Myrtle Beach. Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Frazier, Lunette and Tommie, were Sun day visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Rex. Hughes in Laurens, and Sgt. and Mrs. Willie Fleming of Camp Lejeune, N. C., who were visitors of (he Hughes family. Mrs. Fred Bragg, Sr., accom panied Mrs. Marshall Moates and Mrs. J. H. Wallenzine, of Little River-Dominick commu nity Sunday and attended the wedding of Miss Diane Knight, of Waterloo, to Lewis Wallen zine, of Clinton, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church near Laurens. Mrs. Gladys Nabors recently attended a class reunion at Win- throp College in Rock Hill. Her daughter, Dale, accompanied her. While there they were the overnight visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Willingham. Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Craig, of Orlando, Fla., have returned to their home following a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Craig. Other visitors of the Craig family included Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Craig, of Greenville. Miss Lois Haselden, of Clinton, and Miss Judy Murrah spent last week in Columbia where they at tended the Methodist Senior Youth Assembly. Mrs. Murrah and Miss Lunette Frazier accom panied them to Columbia. MRS. NORRIS PASSES Mrs. Janie Stevens Norris, 72, died Friday afternoon at her home, 116 Marion St., after sev ere 1 years of declining health. Mrs. Norris, a native of Lee County, had lived in Joanna for the past 30 years. She attended the Assembly of God Church in Joanna. Her hus band Irvin Norris, died a num ber of years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Martin of Joanna; and Mrs. Mary Marshall of Sen eca; three sons, Barney Norris, Ervin Norris, and Carl Norris, all of Joanna; nine grandchildren and five great - grandchildren; two brothers, WilUam Stevens of Bishopville and Tommie Stevens of Clinton. Funeral services were conduct ed Sunday at 3:00 p. m. at the Assembly of God Church by Rev. Ben F. Jones and Rev. James B. Mitchell. Burial was in Rosemont cemetery in Clinton. Pallbearers were James Mar shall, Alvin Marshall, Boyd Gas kin, Reddick Gaskin, J. C. Lollis nad Wilbur Bolick. Mr. and Mrs. Curt Salter, Kathy, Don, Miss Vicki Boyd and Terry Brown spent the week end at the former’s cottage on Lake Murray. WEDDING PARTY ENTER TAINED On Friday evening following the rehearsal. Dr. and Mrs. Rob ert Livingston, of Newberry, en tertained members of the Surratt- Johnson wedding party with a dinner party at their home. BIRTHDAY PARTY Miss Libby Nabors, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Nabors, celebrated her 13th birthday on Saturday, June 10. On Thursday her mother hon ored her with a party at Joanna Club House. The 30 children present enjoyed indoor party games and dancing. The appoint ed table was overlaid in white centered with a birthday cake which was unique in desgin, with “Happy Birthday Miss Thirteen’’ written in white with yellow and green decoration. In keeping with the color scheme flower arrangements were placed at vantage points throughout the party rooms. Mrs. Nabors, assisted by Mrs. Calvin Owens, served the group refreshments consisting of indi vidual cake squares decorated in the same design as the birthday cake, ice cream, sandwiches, mints, salted nuts and drinks. The honoree was remembered with many lovely gifts. W. S. C. S. HAS JUNE MEETING The Woman’s Society of Chris tian Service of Epworth Metho dist Church met on Tuesday eve ning o last week in the Fellow ship Hall of the church. The newly elected president, Mrs. Ce cil O’Dell, presided. Routine bus iness was attended to with the hostess calendar made out for the year. The next meeting which was scheduled for July 4 was postponed for a week due to the vacation being at that time. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 11. Mrs. Harmon Murrah, Jr., pre sented an interesting program. The topic was “The Refugee, Our Christian Concern.’’ A social hour followed. The hostesses, Mrs. Alvin Beden- baugh and Mrs. Harmon Mur rah, Jr., served refreshments consisting of London fog, cheese biscuits and apple betty cookies. Miss Jessie Owens has been discharged from the local hos pital where she underwent ton silectomy. Mrs. J. H. Craft, of Silver- street, is recuperating at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cecil O’Dell following treatment at the local hospital. Miss Debbie Holt is recuperat ing at home following tonsilec tomy at the local hospital. Little Shan Whittle, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. V. WhitUe, has been discharged from the local hos pital following tonsilectomy. Jimmy Counts, of Newberry, is recuperaUng at home following tonsilectomy at the local hos pital. Mrs. Gail Nabors, of Clinton, is a surgical patient at the local hospital. Mrs. Lola Whelchel, of Clinton, is a patient at the local hospital where she underwent surgery. Coming with him are his wife, the former Miss Theresa Schnei der of Swiebrusken, of Germany, and their young son, Billy Joe. They are residing with his pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. J. P.
