Their friends will regret to know Mrs. Padgett is ill. Gilbert Blakely returned Tuesday to his home in Jacksonville, Fla., after spending a few days with his mother, Mrs. J. B. Speake, coming especially to attend the funeral of his uncle, Ralph R. Blakely., Miss Lou Jones Cornwall, who attends Sullins College, Bristol, Va., spent the week-end with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J.’Comwall. She had as her guest Miss Evie Krantzert of Sanford, Fla., wijp W. McDaniel. Friends of F. L. Pearson will be interested to know he is .able to be out again after being UI at his home the past week. * A monk Winthrop girls spending the week-end at their homes here were Misses Barbara Roberts, Bet ty Jane Hamer, and Jennie Addison. IN TENNESSEE Mrs. Kate Taylor and daughter, Patricia, are spending a few days in Knoxville, Tenn./with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. *W. P. Coker and daughter, Miss Joann Coker of Asheville, N. C., spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. is also a Sullins student M'r. and Mrs. M. G. Gault of Bam berg, spent the week-end with/their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin (Jault, Jr. Ed Pitts has resumed his studies at the University <rf South Carolina " after spending the mid-term hol idays with his mother, Mrs. P. M. Pitts. _ Mrs. C. A. Reeves of Honea Path, visited her daughter, Mrs. W. M. Hughes, and Mr. Hughes, a few days last week. Mr. Reeves joined her here for the day on Sunday. ^ Robert and Joe Neely, who attend the University of South Carolina, Columbia, were at home last week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carlisle Neely, for the mid-term holidays. —~ Jack Davis, student at Clemson, and Miss Betsy Davis, of Erskine College, were at home between se mesters with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack H. Davis. MOVE TO WHITMIRE Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gilliland and small son, Bill, will move this week to Whitmire where Mr. Gilland will manage the Belk’s store. He was formerly connected with the Belk’s store here. Lt .and Mrs. Richard Lukstat and little• daughter, Nancy Bee, will return today to El Paso, Texas, after a week’s stay with Mrs. Luk- stat’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hor ace D. Payne. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bass were visi tors in Durham, NT. C., the past week. « Miss Florence Ella Blakely is spending the week with her mother, Mrs. Ralph, Blakely. Mr. and Mrs R. H. McLeod and children have re turned to their home in McBee after being called here because of the death of Mrs. McLeod's father, Ralph R. Blakely . VISITS IN NEW JERSEY BIrs.
