Mrs. Inez Payton, with her sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Moon of Greenwood, attended the Church of God of Prophecy assembly held in Cleve land, Tenn., recently. Mrs. J. E. Wright of Buffalo, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. B. F. Vaiderford, and Mr. Vanderford. Mr .and Mrs. W. E. Saylors and Susan, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Barrett, Teresa and Kathy, of Greenville, visited Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tem pleton Sunday. VISITS MOTHER Mr. and Mrs. Lester Davis and family have been to Union several times recently due to tbr serious illness of his mother, Mrs. E. F. Davis. She is a patient at the Wal lace Thompson hospital. Mrs. W. L. Motte, with her sister, Mrs. Mable Ballard of Fountain Inn were recent visitors of their broth er, Jessie Attaway, who is ill at his home in Saluda. Sgt. Charles Harvey of Fort Jack- son, is spending a 10-day leave with Mrs. Harvey and children and his mother, Mrs. Alma Harvey. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Windsor spent Sunday, Sept. 20, with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Windsor in Cowpens. Misses Beverly Webb and Melda Dean spent the week-end in Lau rens with the former’s aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lee. Miss Teresa Worthy of Newberry, is visiting her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland Campbell. PARTY FOR DAUGHTER The Lydia Community Building was the scene of a lovely birthday party for little Letha Johnson, who was celebrating her third birthday on Friday. The little folks enjoyed playing together before Mrs. Jenene John son, Letha'k mother, and aunt. Miss Flo Emory, served party re freshments. Letha's cake was chocolate, with yellow candles and a large yellow 3 on top. She was presented many gifts from those present. BRIDE HONORED THURSDAY Officers and teachers of the pri mary department of the Lydia Bap tist Church Sunday school were hostesses on Thursday evening at a miscellaneous shower for Mrs. Clevus Wilkes, the former Miss Mary Jane McLendon, bride of Sept. 12. The party was held in the. social hall of the church, with around thirty friends and relatives pres ent. Bride's bingo and other appro-' priate games were enjoyed by the group. Cake squares, nuts, mints and punch were served. The buffet table was covered with an arrangement of lavender dahlias and greenery. Pot plants were in each window of the hall. Hostesses were Mrs. R. E. Whit mire, Mrs. Joe Corley, Mrs. Cecil McLendon, Mrs. A. M. Shumate, and Miss Cecilia McLendon. Mrs. Wilkes, a teacher in the de partment, was presented a host of lovely gifts for her home. MR. SMITH HONORED Mr. and Mrs/ J. B. Vanderford were hosts on Sunday when thirty- five relatives and friends gathered' at their home for a birthday dinner for her father, L. H. E. Whitmire. The new Woman's Missionary Un ion president, Mrs. M. J. Sanders, was a guest. She explained some of YWA work and urged those girls eligible to join the group. After a program on Indians. Mrs. Whitmire served strawberry ice cream Sundaes.
