Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Braswell and children oi Columbia, visited Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Wooten Monday. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Snelgrove and children visited the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Snel grove, near Saluda Sunday. A3C Pete Cranford of Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., visited his grandmother, Mrs. W. D. Sizemore, and other relatives here during the week-end. AJC and Mrs. Herbert Vaughn of Greenwood, visited the former’s fa ther, Ernest Vaughn, during the week-end. Serviceman Vaughn has been stationed at Roanoke, Va., and is enroute to Japan after a leave at home. Mrs. Elizabeth Leopard of Ches ter, visited her mother, Suzy Hanks, the past week-end. Mrs. Hanks is ill. An Vaughn of Ware Shoals, visit ed her father, Ernest Vaughn, du ring the week-end. She also visited Beatrice Dyer white here. BLUE BIRD LEADERS MEET* The Blue Bird leaders, with Mrs. Eva Land as director, met at the Community Building on Friday morning to make preparations for the Dad-Daughter box supper for the Blue Birds and their fathers to be held in the near future. WOMAN’S CLUB TO MEET The Clinton Mill’s Woman’s Club wil hold the regular meeting to night, Thursday, January 15, at 7:30. All women of the village plan ning to assist with the “Mothers March of Dimes” on January 30 are invited to attend this meeting as a film on polio will be shown and plans for the march will be made. At this meeting the cook book for members of the club will be dis tributed. MOTHERS MARCH There will be a Mothers March for the polio campaign on Friday, January 30. A captain has been elected for each street «hd co-work ers assigned. Literature will be dis tributed to the homes on Thursday before the march. BIRTH ANNONCEMENT WALKER Mr. and Mrs. Charles Walker of Bryson, Texas, announce the ar rival of twin daughters on January 12. WITH THE SICK Mrs. Lusesy Owens is ill at her home on North Sloan street. Janet Kennedy was ill last week at her home on Elizabeth street. She is Hnporving now. Mrs. Hampton Gregory was ad mitted to the Greenville General Hospital on Sunday for observation. TULIP GROUP Seven members were present for the Rose Blue Bird group meeting on Wednesday afternon. A business session was held and a profpam given on “Etiquette" for the girls hr Mrs. C. A. EUedge, leader. Refreshments were served con sisting of popcorn, candy and choc olate milk to both groups by their leaders. JESSIE SAMPLES AND FAMILY. J. M. SAMPLES PARSES Jesse M. Samples, 52, died Wed nesday ngiht at his home, 303 Davis St., after 12 months of declining health. He was a native of Newport, Term , but had made his borne in Clinton for 27 years. He was a son of Mrs. Georgia Ballard Sam ples and the late William Samples and attended Bethel Temple Church on Owens street. In addition to his mother, sur viving are his wife, Mrs. Veria mollis Samples, of Clinton; four sons, Jesse M. Samples, Jr., of Donalds; and William, Lewis, and Kenneth E. Samples, all of Chnton, two daughters, Mrs. Margie Stone of Lydia Mill; and Mrs. Bettie Me Elhannon of Clinton; five grandchil dren; and seven brothers, Dewey, Ralph, Forrest, Wilfbrd, Carroll, Jonas and Marshall Samples, ah of Clinton. Funeral services were conducted Friday at 3:00 p. m. at Bethel Temple Church on Owens street by the Rev. E. D. Johnson and the Rev Lee Powell Burial was in t cemetery. arers were Sam White. Eight members were present for the meeting The program was opened with prayer by Mrs. Charles Oakley. Parts were read by Mrs. Vernon Trammell, Mrs. Oakley, Mrs. Joe Spilters and Mrs. C. A. EUedge A discussion was held later con cerning Community Missions, and other plans for the future. Refreshments were served con sisting of a salad plate and punch Mrs., Truman Owens dismissed the member* with prayer.
