TRAMMELL • • • 'Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Gaskin are spending the Christmas holidays in New York City. The Children, Pris cilla, Frank, and David, are with the former’s mother, Mrs. J. F. Gaskin, in Rock Hill. Pvt. Kenneth Meeks arrived last week from Tobyhanna, Pa., for a 30-day furlough with his mother, Mrs. Frances Meeks. S-Sgt. and Mrs. Leon Abercrom bie of Myrtle Beach, are spending a Christmas leave with their pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Aber crombie and Mrs. Rachel Moseley. Mr. and Mrs. William Stone and children of Anderson, spent the week-end with Murphy stone, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Trammell. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Glenn and children, Keith and Deidra, of Greenville! were Sunday dinner guests of the Trammells. VISITORS IN FLORENCE Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Satterfield and Melda visited Mr. and Mrs. Fester Harris in Florence during the week-end. A1 Williams, sophomore at The Citadel, Charleston, is spending the Christmas holidays with his pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Williams. Misses Rosemary Seegars and Caroline Seegars. of Clinton, and Mis Sandra Peavy of Enoree, visit ed Rev. and Mrs. Roscoe Bryan on Sunday. Alvin Satterfield, AA, of the Na val Air Base, Almeda, Calif., is expected to arrive home Monday for a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Satterfield. Miss Barbara Roberts of Win- throp Colege, Rock Hill, is spending the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David H. Roberts. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Campbell and children of Charlotte, N. C., spent the week-end with Mrs. Campbell’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Burdette. The Burdettes ac companied them home Sunday eve ning. Joe Lark of Clemson College, is home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lark, for the holidays. BIRTHDAY PARTY GIVEN Miss Melda Satterfield ecelbrated her 13th birthday with a party at the Community Building recently. A large number of friends enjoy ed an afternoon of fun together. Her mother, Mrs. Melvin Satter field, served party refreshments to the group. Melda was remembered with many gifts from her friends. FAMILY ENJOYS DAY TOGETHER On Sunday all the children of Mrs. W. E. Johnson gathered at her home for the annual Christmas din ner. Enjoying the day together were: Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Johnson and Johnny of Clinton; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson and family of Rock Hill; Mr. and Mrs. Richard John son and Mary Jane, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Gifts were presented from the lovely tree. Other decorations car ried out the Christmas theme. PENTECOSTAL PRAYER SERVICE The regular mid-week prayer service will be held Wednesday (tonight) at the Lydia Pentecostal Holiness Church. PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH NEWS There will be no prayer service | or Youth Fellowship meetings to night at the Presbyterian Church, but meetings will be held as usual next Wednesday evening. MEN TO MEET The Men of the Church will meet Tuesday evening at 7:30 p. m. at Roddy’s to receive reports of the nominating; committee and to adopt a constitution and by-laws. Any interested men are invited to attend. BAPTIST CHURCH NEWS The annual Christmas tree pro gram will be given at the Lydia Baptist Church tonight at 7:00 p. m. Christmas carols will be sung and Santa Claus will arrive to give the Sunday school members of the nur sery department gifts from the tree. NEW YEARS EVE On next Wednesday evening a New Years Eve prayer service win be held at 7:30 p. m. at the Bap tist Church. There will be a guest speaker, also special music will be rendered. The public is cordially invited. CHURCH PAINTED Members of the Lydia Baptist church were pleased on Sunday on entering the auditorium with its newly painted walls. The choir loft, choir rooms, pastor’s study and church office all have received new colors of dusty rose. New limits have also been installed in some parts of the auditorium. KINDERGARTEN PARTY The Lydia-Clinton Kindergarten held the Christmas party on last Wednesday morning during kinder garten hours. Christmas songs and poems were enjoyed along with refreshments The chiktren exchanged gifts from the tree and Miss Nellie Osborne gave all the children candy. Miss Osborne was assisted in en tertaining by Mrs. Bobby Johnson BLUE BIRD PARTY On Monday of last week the fourth grade Blue Birds enjoyed a Christmas party at the beautifully decorated Community House, with Mrs. Lindy Barlowe and Miss Nel lie Osborne as hostesses. Christmas games and refresh ments ^yere enjoyed before pass ing out the gifts from tlfie lighted tree. CAMP FIRE GROUP ENJOYS SUPPER The Ta Wan Ka group of Camp Fire girls enjoyed a chicken sup per on Tuesday evening of last week at the home of their leader, Miss Nellie Osborne After the supper the girls enjoy ed several Christmas games, after which gifts were exchanged. SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS PARTY The young people's class of the Lydia Pentecostal HoHness Church enjoyed a Christmas party on Sat urday evening at the Community Building. Around twenty members and their guests enjoyed games and re freshments using the Christmas mo tif. Rev. Roscoe Bryan is the class teacher. Mrs. Bryan assisted with the party held amid lovely decora tions. SECRET PAL CLUB PARTY - On Tuesday evening the weave room No. 2 Secret Pal chib enjoyed a Christmas party at the Commu nity House. Mrs. E. \C. Burdette and Mrs. Joe Corley were hostesses and directed several games. After party refreshments were (served gifts were exchange with the pal for the, year revealed. Names were drawn for the com ing year's Secret Pal. GIRLS HAVE PARTY The 13-14 year old group of In- jtermediate girls of the Lydia Bap tist Church Sunday school enjoyed a Christmas party at the Com munity Building with their teacher. Mrs. E. C. Burdette, as hostess. Carols were sung and games played before refreshments. After wards gifts were exchanged by the class. GA’S HAVE PARTY The Intermediate Girls’ Auxiliary held a party last Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Cecil McLendon, with Mrs. R. E. Whitmire co-hostess. Games appropriate to the season were enjoyed before party refresh ments were served Gifts were presented from the decorated tree. CAMP FIRE GIRLS’ PARTY Mrs. R. E. The tax books will open November 1 at the office of the Town Clerk and Treasurer and will remain open up to and through December 31. t A penalty of ten per cent (10%) shall be added if said taxes are not paid on or before January 1, 1959. Taxes will be collected through April 15, 1959, with penalty added, and will go into execution April 15, 1959.
