Frank Jones Is Coach of Year in S.C. Frank Jones of Presbyterian Col lege, a man in his second year of eol^Tge football coaching, is South Carolina’s 1958 football coach of the year. He was named for the honor by vote of members of the South Car olina Sports writers Association. Runner-up was Coach Frank Howard of Atlantic Coast Confer ence Clemson, who was the ACC’s coach of the year, and whose team is headed for the Sugar bowl and a New Year’s Day date with the nation’s No. 1 Louisiana State team. University of South Carolina Coach Warren Gei.se, whose team beat Clemson decisively, was third Association Secretary Warren Kon said voting was on a basis of 5 points for first place, three points for second and one point for third. Jones had 113 points out of a possible 135. Howard had 64 and Geise 35.
