Attached to the paper- filled dummy was a flag readipg “Pvt Thackston. U. S. A., Once Honored, Now Scorned ’’ In addition to much shouting and milling about, the demonstration was climaxed by a loud explosion that ^hook windows two blocks away. It was reported to be a dy namite cap. Members of the student council were finally successful m calming down the demonstrators, and dis pelling the crowd. The incident came aa a result of student protest of a proposed ad- ministratke ruling that dates would have to be out of fraternity rooms at 1 00 a m on Pnday night, and at 12:00 midnight on Saturday. The proponed ruling was brought on. according to Col. Thackston, by protests from disturbed families of Clinton PC students on previous dance week -ends had In several in stances brought in their dates at hours that were considered objec tionable to the hosts He further stated that students had neglected to show proper courtesy to the hosts of their dates and in some instances did not even thank them for their hospitality. Col. Thackston called a special meeting Thursday afternoon at 2:00 of presidents of the six fraternities At the meeting, a compromise was reached concerning the proposed hours for ending fraternity parties. Thackston placed the responsibil ity for control of fraternity parties in the hands fo fraternity presi dents.
