C, Thursdoy, July 24, 1958 Number 30 Construction Work on City's New $1,150,000 Water Mains and Filter Plant Scenes showing the laying of Clinton’s new 16-inch water line from Enoree River and installing larger mains in the city .give some indication of the magnitude of the task involved in supplying 3,000,000 gallons of water daily for use of the city’s residents. This is part of Clin ton’s $1,150,000 expansion of its water facilities, which includes a pumping station on the river, ten miles of 16- inch mains, new filter plant (pictured in The Chronicle last week), and looping the town with a new 12-inch main to increase the water supply in alf parts of the city. In the photo at left pipe is being hauled and dumped along the right of way across country to the river. In stallation of the pipe is shown in the center. The pic ture at right shows workmen and machines laying 12- inch pipe along Calhoun Street. Building of the new water lines is being done by Esp^ F’aving and Construction Co., of Savannah. Ca. and Fiske-Carter Construction Co., of Spartanburg, is budd ing the filter plant.
