Bailey receive* the Presbyterian College Alumni Citation from President Marshall W. Brown last Thursday evening at a dinner in Bailey's honor in the PC dining hall. The college was host at the tes timonial event upon the elevation of Bailey to the presidency of the South Carolina Textile Manufacturer* Association. Bailey Is president and treasurer of Clinton and Lydia Cotton Mills. The occasion was attend ed by textile men from over the state and citixens of Clinton Left to right are Alan B. F. E. Grier of Greenwood, pres-1 ident of the Abney-Erwin Mills, de livered the main address of the oc-, casion. He cited the accomplish ments of Bailey as president of the Clinton and Lydia Cotton Mills, told' of the philanthropic endeavors of the Bailey Foundation and traced the development of the present family organization from its founding by Bailey’s grandfather Some 175 textile leaders and Clin ton civic club members attended i the dinner held in the Presbyterian College dining hall Alan B Sibley, I of Greenville, vice-president of Jud- ! son Mills and its affiliates, presided, and Spartan Mills President Walter Montgomery of Spartanburg, in-1 troduced the main speaker. One of the highlights of the eve ning was the presentation of a spe cial alumni citation to Bailey. The Chronicle again will give an election party Tuesday night when returns from the second primary will be broadcast from the office over a'loud speaker. We will have several experien ced men assisting in receiving and tabulating the returns as fast as they come in from the various precincts. The job is expected to be com pleted by 9 o'clock Tuesday night, and the public is invited to attend. Precinct managers in the Clin ton area are requested to tele phone or bring the results from their boxes as soon as the count is complete. Adair ,and Allen D Coleman late Friday when they learned which one was to be the second candidate in a run-over for treasurer of Laurens County It was Coleman who wsa put into the second primary with Herchel W.
