Ida Crawford, is one of the artists whose work now hangs in the permanent art collection at the Tammassee DAR School at Tammassee The collec tion of over forty paintings and pieces of sculpture was recently acquired by the school through the efforts of the New Netherland Chap ter of the DAK It is estimated that the worth of these originals exceeds $10,000. Miss Crawford, who resides in New York, studied art at Winthrop College. Rock Hill, and from 1946 to 1948 was an art instructor there. She is now with Bristol-Myers Co. as director of tsi educational ser vice. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Roy Crawford of Clinton. Despite the dmeands of her busi ness career and club activities Miss Crawfrod, wso in private life is Mrs. Robert Stewart, finds time during week-ends to pursue her art. Apparently she is quite successful in her endeavor, for at Tammassee her painting hangs with the work i of such famous artists as National Academy members Ann Hyatt Huntington, William R. Leigh, Frederic Whitaker, John Scott Wil liams. aid Gordon Grant. George Jacks, Presbyterian Col lege senior from MountviUe, has been awarded an aaststanship to pursue graduate work at Clemson next year. Dr. ’Neii Whitelaw, head of the PC physics* department, announced today that Jacks will receive a grant of $1,400 as an assistant in physics and mathematics.
