In the dress revue "Easter Fash ions on Parade.”, Mickey O’Shields modeled a suit and Allene Dodgen of Thorn well modeled a matching bag and hat of her own design. The Laurens, Clinton and Thorn- well chapters received excellent on all entries and were presented an FHA emblem and creed for their homemaking department. The Thorn well chapter received excel lent on the suit made by Miss Dod gen, home project by Jenny Mc Clellan, and home project by Patsy McAbee. They were also awarded a good rating on yearbooks and scrap books HD Club Plans For Spring Council The Shady Grove Home Demon stratum Club met on April 1 at the club house An interesting program oh “Get ting Your Moneya Worth in Buy ing Food," was given. Plans were made for the Laurens County Spring Council Home Dem onstration club which will be held at the Shady Grove club house Thursday. April 17. Dr John W Stevenson is return- I mg to Presbyterian College as pro fessor of English after spending the past year'on the faculty of Mill- saps College, President Marshall W Brown announced today. Harris, Stevenson will as sume the chairmanship of the Eng lish department upon his return. Dr. Harris, who has served as chair man since 1944, will continue to teach certain advanced courses in English Stevenson joined the Presbyte rian College faculty in 1950,imme- diately after receiving his Master’s degree from Vanderbilt University. He earned his doctorate from that institution in 1954. Undegraduate work was done at Wofford, from which he received his BA in 1948 His mam interest centers around literary criticism, and Dr. Steven son has had two articles published m recent years in the South Atlan tic Quarterly One dealt with "The Literary Reputation of Stephen Crane." and the other analyzed "The Pastoral Setting in the Poetry of A E Housman ” He bolds mem bership in the Modern Language Association and the South Atlantic Modern Language Association. Dunng his previous stay in Clin ton. the PC English professor was active in church affairs, serving as teacher in the First Presbyterian Church Sunday school and singing m the church choir.
