Mrs. Jasper Rowland was top scorer and the hostess’ sister-in-law, Mrs. Alice Barrow, who is visiting here, was remembered with a guest prize. Mrs. Copeland Is Garden Club Hostess The Yellow Jasmine Garden Club members met on Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ralph Cope land, with Mrs. C. T. Thomason and Mrs. R. M. League assisting as hostesses. Dried arrangements and foliage were used in the meeting rooms. Mrs. Ralph N. Tedards was wel comed as a new member. Mrs. G. A. Burton and Mrs. Wal ter Shuman presented the after noon’s program. Mrs. Burton dem onstrated how to prune shrubbery and shoved some Implements used in cutting. Mrs. Shuman talked on ‘ Lawn Grasses.” At the close of the program the hostesses served a refreshment plate of party dainties and sweets with coffee. Henry Laurens Topic Study Club Program Wednesday afternoon of the past W(pek Mrs. C. B. Betts was hostess to the Study Club at her home on Maple Street. Sprays of flowering quince were used for decoration throughout the home. Mrs. Marshall Brown presented an interesting program on Henry Laurens, of Charleston, patroit and statesman, who was closely identi fied with the early history of our state and for whom the town of Laurens was named. During the afternoon refreshments of a congealed chicken salad course, coffee ami cake were served. Slides Shown On Longwood Gardens Slides on Longiwood Gardens were shown by Mrs. 1. M. Smith on Mon day afternoon for the meeting of the Clara Duckett Garden Club at the home ol Mrs. J. R. Cox. r Mrs. Smith had made the pictures while on a taur of the gardens lo cated in Pennsylvania, dear Wil mington, Del., which have been de veloped by the DuPont farpily. During a business session a nomi nating committee composed of Mrs. C. W. Cooper, Mrs. J. C. Thomas and Mrs. Henry Young, was ap pointed ^ Following the program the host ess and assistanLhostess, Mrs. Hugh Ray, were assisted in scrying re freshments by the former’s mother, Mrs. W. L. Leary, of Greenwood. Sandwiches, ham biscuits, assorted dainties, cakte and nuts were served with coffee. A green and yellow color note was prettily carried out in decorations and the refreshment menu. A dried arrangement in the chosen colors adorned the reception hall and yel low gladioli and bronze chrysanthe mums were combined with green ery for the mantel in the living room.
