Kay. supervisor of the local Winn-Dixie Stores is presenting profit-sharing check to Charlie Wise, manager of the Clinton store. ° ' . t Employees of the Winn-Dixie Stores are over two million dollars richer this week, according to an announcement b> Mr. ka>. in telling of the distribution, totaling $2,165,000. made to employees who are eligible to participate in the Winn Dixie Employees Profit Sharing Program by virtue of completing five vears of continuous service with the company. Cnder the program, a portion of the distribution is made in the form ot a cash pa\1nent to en\ployees and the balance credited to individual trust accounts for Ujeir retirement. The cash payment for the current vear amounted to $560,000. Employees are not re quired {o contribute an\ part of the cost of the program. GUY A TUMBLIN, El Paso, Texas First Presbyterian Kindergarten To Open On September 3 The First Presbyterian Church week day kindergarten will open Tuesday, September 3. A two-day orientation period will be held with the four year olds reporting Tues day. the 3rd, and the five year olds Wednesday, the 4th Kindergarten hours the first week will be 8:30 to 10, after which regu lar hours, 8:30 to 11:30, will be ob served. Letters have bene mailed to the parents giving details of the open ing. A meeting of parents will be held at the church Friday evening, August 30, at 8 o’clock in the ladies class room. It is hoped, officials state, '.hat a.l parents will attend. Anyone failing to get their child registered previously may do so by calling the church office. The kindergarten staff is compos ed of Mrs. J. P. Rowland, director; Mrs. Frimk' Caxiley, assistant; and First Baptists To Honor Members Who Will Attend College Members of the First Baptist Church who .will go to college this fall will be honored on the evening of Tuesday, August 27, church offi cials have announced. Lloyd Adair to Board of Trus tees of Whitten Village, 202.6 acres constructing 2,000 feet of drainage ditches this week on 65 acres of bot tom land on his farm on Duncan Creek. The ditches were surveyed and staked out by the Soil Conserva tion Service technicians and are being constructed by the district’s motor grader. The banks of the ditches are being sloped flat so that they can be mowed with a tractor mower to prevent bushes and other unwanted vegetation from growing up on them Mr. Waldrep has also, requested assistance from the district in de veloping a complete soil and water conservation plan on a 410-acre tract of land that he has recently bought on Duncan Creek. He is pdimarily interested in a beef cattle program for the farm and plans to go heavy on coastal bermuda grass. He already has established ap proximately 75 acres of coastal ber muda on the adjoining farm. Stolons will be harvested from this grass to plant additional acreage on the new farm. * * * J.-L. Adair, Sr., of Rt. 3, Clinton, completed the construction of a stock watering pond last week. This is the fourth such pond to be built by Mr. Adair. "You’ve got to have plenty of water available for cattle in weather like we are having now,” said Mr. Adair. He is using his ASC cost-sharing payments in the construction of the dam.
