There were 110 present. Highlighting the entertainment during the evening were the color slides show-n by Leon Patterson, of Laurens, of his tfip last sum mer to Camp Philmont. He was introduced by Scout Field Rep resentative James Teeter. Lawrence N. W r arren gave the invocation. Music was furnished during dinner by courtesy of Bai ley’s Bank. YOUNG has been on the Lions club pro gram in Laurens and Joanna re cently, discussing industrial de velopment matters and the im portance of water resources. I. A. Edwards, program chairman, said the speaker has been specializing in industrial editorial planning for the past five years in South Carolina. Mr. Young was for many years a staff writer for International News Service in Europe, Japan and for five years covering the capitol in Washington. He writes frequent industrial feature articles for newspapers and magazines, and each year prepares a 112-picture feature edition for the Anderson Daily Mail, dealing with this sec tion’s progress in industry. Prior to Icoating in this section, Young specialized in industrial articles and" business reports in this country and overseas. He also has covered many investi gative hearings, including the Pearl Harbor hearing, the Mc Carthy committee activities, the House Un-American Activities committees and NLR Bcases. He is the author of “Behind the Rising Sun,” based on his ex periences of 15 years in Japan. Sponsor Bird House Contest at Academy Sponsoring the bird movement in Clinton, the Carolina Wren Garden club is again offering prizes to school children for bird houses. This is the third year that the contest has been held and will be for children at Academy Street school from the second, through the seventh grades. The two previous years the contest ha5 been at Florida Street and Providence schools. The bird houses will be dis played in the show windows of Johnson and Pitts Men’s Shop.
